Isaac Haxton Leads 40K Final Table by Rich on 05.31.09, 1:53 am

The special 40K event is now down to the final nine. Tony G busted in tenth and collected $172,120 for his efforts. Isaac Haxton will be attendance at tomorrow’s final table, and he sports a 5.95 million chip stack. Other p5ers at the final table include: Lex “RaSZi” Velduis (3.8 million, pictured right), Alec “traheho” Torelli (2.5 million), Justin Bonomo (1.68 million), Dani “Ansky” Stern (1.3 million) and Noah “fouruhaters” Schwartz (660K).

While no one is positive who the overall tournament chip leaders in the $1K NLHE event are, Jonathan “FatalError” Aguiar has to be pretty high up on the chip counts after a recent double up. With the blinds at 200/400/50, a player limped in from middle position, the player to his left raised to 1.65K total, and Aguiar put in another raise for 3K more from late position. The limper folded, and the initial raiser pondered a minute or two and asked for a count of Aguiar’s stack (14.4K behind) before calling. He then checked to Jon after the flop came 864, and Jon counted out 7K and pushed it into the pot. The other player quickly moved all-in for just under 15K total, and Aguiar called with his AA. The other player turned up JJ and the A on the turn left Aguiar’s opponent drawing dead. He was left with 400 chips while Jon jumped up to 40K.

Aguiar seemed more concerned with the fact that he is missing the official WSOP welcome party than his chip count though.

“Three more hours of play?,” he balked. “But how am I going to get my drink on?”

Another player in a joking mood is last year’s 12th place WSOP Main Event finisher Chris “SLOPPYKLOD” Klodnicki (pictured left). Fellow P5er Frank “blueberleez” Jordan is also seated at his table, and he realized that we had been keeping tabs on Klodnicki as well as him. Curiosity got the best of Frank and he asked Chris what his online screenname is:

“Sheets,” Chris deadpanned.

The two continued to converse and when Jordan asked about Klodnicki’s recent results, Chris quietly responded, “Oh I haven’t done much lately. My last big score was porbably a year ago.”

Unfortunately for Klodnicki, the joking around could not continue. He was down to his last 5K or so when Jordan raised from under the gun to 1,075 and Klodnicki shipped all-in for 4.25K more on the button. The small blind then reraised all-in, having Jordan covered. Frank folded and Klodnicki immediately started picking up his stuff and passing around the requisite “good games” to his table mates.

“I think I have two unders,” Chris said as he flipped up QT. He was right, as his opponent held KK. The board ran out A-A-7-J-Q and Klodnicki was eliminated.

Some notable chip stacks include:

Justin “jurollo” Rollo - 30.1K
Jeff “yellowsub” Williams - 11K (he also is guessing he probably
bluffs too much)
Robert “rgc2005″ Chapman - 10K

WSOP Event #3: $1.5K Omaha H/L

Fifty-three players are still fighting for the $1500 Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better bracelet, including a handful of PocketFivers. The following hand happened with the blinds at 2k/4k and limits of 4k/8k.

We joined the action on a flop of A85. Senovio “Dorsal Fin” Ramirez led out for 4K and was called by two players. The 8 fell on the turn and Ramirez again bet. The second player called before the third player made it 16K. Both Ramirez and the other player made the call. The river was the 4. Ramirez bet 8K and this time the second player raised to 16K. The third player called and then Ramirez re-raised to 32K. Both players called. Here were the hands:

Ramirez: AAJT
Player 2: 4432
Player 3: 6432

Ramirez ended up with a nice profit as he won half of the pot with aces full while his opponents split the low pot with wheels.

Ramirez told us he had been down to 15K about 20 minutes before that hand occurred, but he now sits with about 115K after this hand and making a flush against Annie Duke earlier.

Brock “t_soprano” Parker (pictured right) was recently moved from Ramirez and Duke’s table and is now sitting to the right of Layne Flack. He said he hasn’t won a pot since being moved and has around 55K.

Jordan “Octavian_C” Rich lost a couple pots in a row to Freddy Deeb and appears to have around 75K right now, which is still an average chip stack. Andre Akkari is nursing a short stack as well.
