“Don’t Write This Down” by Rich on 06.07.09, 1:02 am

Table 16 in the Blue Section of the Amazon Room is having some fun during Event #15 $5K NLHE. The cast of characters at the table includes Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi, Yevgeniy “atimos” Timoshenko (pictured left), Amanda “Mandy_B” Baker, Andy Black and Lars Bonding. When we neared the table, it was apparent they were playing the infamous new game “Johnny Lodden Thinks.”

Lodden, a Norwegian pro, was not present, and instead Baker was playing the role of “Johnny Lodden.” We missed who won, but Mizzi and Timoshenko were the ones auctioning. The table was light, full of laughter when we arrived. “Now don’t be writin’ this down,” joked Black with a deep Irish lilt.

We’ll let them have fun, and leave it at that.

The mood isn’t as good for other P5ers in the field however. We missed the hand, but George “The Butler” Dietz has been eliminated, and taking his seat is Jimmy “gobboboy” Fricke. Fricke can’t be pleased, his new opponents include Gavin Smith, Vanessa Rousso, Josh Arieh and Greg “fossilman” Raymer.

Michael “benvo123″ Benvenuti (pictured right) has hit the rail as well. Darryll “DFish” Fish was sitting with Benvenuti, and informed us that Michael got his stack in preflop with AQ against Jose Tavares’ AK. Benvenuti did not improve, and was eliminated. Tavares is a California native and a Commerce regular with a WPT Title. Erick Lindgren, who is seated between Tavares and Fish, leaned back with a grin to inform us Tavares is, “The best player on the west coast.”

David “bakes” Baker took a hit recently. On a J99 board, Baker raised his opponent all-in. His opponent called, tabling AA. David was behind when he showed KK. Baker did not catch a king, and lost a sizable pot, leaving him with about 20K in chips. Dan “Wretchy” Martin was on the other side of aces vs. kings, but did not hold. Martin told us he got it all-in preflop with a man to his left, but a king boinked on the turn giving his opponent a pot worth over 40K.

On the bright side there are some healthy P5ers. Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers just raked in a pot and is over 50K, Jon “FatalError” Aguiar is above 40K and Jason “JCarver” Somerville has just broke the 100K mark.

WSOP 2009 Event #13: $2.5K NLHE

Carter “ckingusc” King (pictured left) and Alex Jacob have been eliminated and a handful of P5ers are milking short stacks in the $2.5K NLHE event. King, who had built his stack up to almost 200K earlier in the day, moved in for his last 30K from the button with A2 and was called Andrew Lichtenberger in the small blind with AT. King couldn’t improve his hand and he was sent home in 58th place.

Jacob was sent to the rail just moments earlier. Alex and another player got it all in on a board of Q-T-2-J, with Alex holding A-K for broadway and his opponent with top set. The board brought a 2, however, and Jacob’s straight finished second best. The beat left him with a little over 1K, which he lost on the next hand. Jacob and King both earned $7,432 for their two days of work.

Garrett “GBecks” Beckman worked his stack up to 245K during Level 7 by picking off a Paul Spitzberg bluff, but has since dipped down below 100K. Beckman has lost a few substantial pots by betting aggressively at flops and getting re-raised, forcing him to fold.

With 57 players remaining and the average stack at 143K, here’s a look at some others still alive in the $2.5K NLHE event:

Justin “jurollo” Rollo - 210K
Matt “mlagoo” LaGarde - 73K
Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman - 66K
Justin “looshle” Pechie - 53K
Jon “therookieQQ9″ Plens - 52.5K
Keven “Stammdogg” Stammen - 25K

WSOP 2009 Event #14: $1.5K Six-handed LHE

Players have just gone on a 20-minute break in the $1.5K Six-handed LHE event. The bubble burst at 36 players, and all will all receieve a guaranteed payday of 4,693. Aaron “ndgrinder59″ Steury barely snuck into the money, taking 36th, and Barry “barryg1″ Greenstein followed shortly after in 30th. Shawn “sbuck21″ Buchanan is the chip leader with 29 players remaining and Brock “t_soprano” Parker is hovering around the chip average.
