As we dig deeper into the WSOP, many events concurrently play out and it is increasingly hard to keep track of them all. For those of you reading along at home, two bracelets were awarded today - one to Rep Porter for the $1.5K NLHE 6-handed event and another to Farzad Rouhani for winning the $2.5K Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8 or Better tournament. Here is a wrap-up of the remaining ongoing events and a preview of what’s to come for tomorrow:
WSOP #11 - $5k No Limit Hold ‘Em Shootout
The second round of the shootout finished today when Tim “tmay420″ West took out John Juanda in a three-hour heads-up match. The tournament resumes tomorrow at 2PM tomorrow when West takes on Sirous Jamshidi, Greg “FBT” Mueller, Thomas Roupe, Phil Tom, and Leo “Superfluous Man” Wolpert. One WSOP bracelet, two PocketFivers, and $477,990 are all on the line.
WSOP #12 - $1.5k Limit Hold ‘Em
Down to the final three tables in the event, play continues until 3AM or 18 players - whichever comes first. PocketFiver John “jdawg0913″ O’Brien quadrupled up going into the final 27 players. He said, “I’m just a low-limits online grinder. How am I at the final three tables?! I had to unregister for the PocketFives Open on PokerStars today when I realized I made Day 2!” O’Brien continues to fight for the $257,936 grand prize plus some invaluable wristwear. Gary Bogdanski is out in 23rd place with winnings of $6,726.
WSOP #13 - $2.5k No Limit Hold ‘Em
Day 1 of this event wrapped up just before 1AM PST. At the close of the evening, there were 141 players remaining out of the original 1,390; play will reach the money bubble at 99 places tomorrow in a race for the $666,777 grand prize. Though the official chip counts have yet to come in, we expect a strong PocketFives showing tomorrow for the second day of play. Play will resume on the new tables at 2PM PST.
WSOP #14 - $10k Seven Card Stud
With a star-studded field the seven card stud tournament wound down tonight at 2:15AM with 81 remaining players. Dario Minieri and Jordan “Octavian_C” Rich return for Day 2, while Steve Billirakis and Justin Bonomo were eliminated earlier in the tournament. Check back tomorrow afternoon for coverage of this event as well.
COMING UP TOMORROW…
WSOP #15 - $1K Ladies No-Limit Hold’em World Championship: 12PM PST
The Amazon room will live up to its name and truly be filled with Amazon women tomorrow at noon when the ladies take to the tables in a $1K championship. PocketFivesLive will go undercover as our own reporter, Jess Welman, hits the felt. Good luck, ladies!
