WSOP 2008
Richard “Lee Nickel” Fohrenbach’s (pictured at left) stack has skyrocketed in second level with blinds at 1k-2k-200. Fohrenbach was the beneficiary of his table breaking early on as he no longer had to contend with Joe Tehan and Barry Greenstein, who were sitting to his immediate left. Fohrenbach won a 80k pot when he raised 9-8 preflop and the flop came 10-7-4. Fohrenbach’s opponent bet into him and Fohrenbach shoved all-in only to have his opponent call with Q-10. Fohrenbach rivered a 6 for a straight and is currently over 100k after starting the day with 40k.
Adam “Roothlus” Levy must be watching chip leader Garrett “GBecks” Beckman in envy. The two friends have had contrasting days at the same table with Beckman scooping seemingly every meaningfull pot he plays. In one hand, Beckman raised 5k from middle position and was called by the button. Both players checked a A
7
4
flop and Beckman check called a 7k bet on the 8
turn. A 9
came on the river and Beckman bet 15k and was called, revealing the nuts with K
Q
. Beckman currently has one of the biggest stacks with a 145k, over two times the 60k chip average.
While Beckman has been consistently increasing his chip stack, Adam (pictured at right) has had quite the roller coaster ride today. At one point he was as low as 22K, but began an upward climb that culminated in him eliminating Kenna James. Adam said he made a “gamblish” call when a short stacked James shoved his remaining 13K with the blinds at 1K/2K with a 300 ante. Levy made the call with A-3 and James showed A-6. Adam managed to spike a three and increase his chip count to over 50K.
A few hands later, Levy raised the button and the big blind re-raised all in for his last 22K. Adam quickly made the call with 9
9
and appeared to be in great shape against his opponent’s A
9
. Unfortunately for Adam, the board came out K
T
8
7
A
and the ace on the river cut Levy’s stack in half.
Dan “wretchy” Adams has had an up and down kind of day as well. As we last reported, he took a big hit with pocket queens, but managed to work his stack as high as 65K. However, he has been forced to lay down some hands to reraises since then and is now sitting with 37K.
Steve “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer saw an end to his Day 2 when he got it all in with J-9 on a Q-10-X board with two diamonds. His opponent held K
7
and when the flush hit O’Dwyer was eliminated. Other recent eliminations include Wayne “Imustcall” Leonard, Scott “gunning4you” Seiver, and Amit “amak316″ Makhija.
