WSOP 2008
Less than an hour into the start of day 2 of the $5k Shootout and Leo Wolpert (pictured left) doubled his starting stack of 100k. He got all his chips in on a flop of K
T
3
and was called by an opponent holding the K
Q
which was second best to Leo’s A
A
. The 7
on the turn and the 3
on the river were harmless and Leo had around 200k in chips.
That was until Leo got it all in again against an opponent with less chips on a flop of 8
5
3
. Leo held the K
4
for a flush draw while the other player held the 8
8
for a flopped set. The 9
on the turn and the 3
on the river were no help to Leo and he dropped back down to a little over 100k in chips.
One table over, Joe Sebok’s stack had been sliding as a result of other players reraising him preflop pushing Joe off of some hands. When he was down to around 50k, he and an opponent both checked a flop of Q
9
8
. When the 9
fell on the turn Sebok got it all in and showed the J
T
for the flopped nut straight while his opponent held the A
Q
for two pair. The K
fell on the river and Joe doubled his stack back up to around 100k.
Isaac Haxton isn’t having quite as much luck. With the board reading J
T
4
J
3
Isaac called a large bet by Eric Lindgren on the river and when Lindgren tabled the K
5
for a flush, Isaac slowly rapped the table and threw his hand away. Afterwards he was down to around 20k of the original 100k.
Across the room play has gotten underway at the final table of the $1.5k 6 handed event #9. P5er Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter is looking to improve his stack as he is 5th in chips at the start of the day.
