She Wins with the Ace High by Jessica on 07.05.09, 8:04 pm

Cameras crowded around the table featuring Maria “Maridu” Mayrinck (pictured left) and her PokerStars teammate and former World Champion Joe Hachem when the duo clashed in the last hand before break. We missed the preflop action, but Mayrinck and Hachem went heads-up to a flop of 643. Both players checked and Maria checked again when the 7 fell on the turn. Hachem said, “No, no I can’t check again and bet out 1.5K. Maria clarified the amount and called. The river was the 7 and Mayrinck checked once again. Hachem bet out 3.5K and the two began to banter back and forth.

“Have I lied to you all day?,” Hachem asked.

“I know, I know,” Mayrinck replied. “I just don’t believe you.”

“Want me to show you one?”

“No, I want you to be quiet so I can think back over the hand. Let’s see…limp, limp limp, raise, call. It just doesn’t make sense. I want to call you with ace high so badly.”

Apparently Maria wanted to call him really badly, as she called and showed A-K high. Hachem mucked and then joked with Maria that she was slowrolling her teammate with a premium hand like A-K. As she was stacking her chips, she looked into the ESPN camera, flashed a smile, and said, “I’m not proud of that.” She is up to 49K going into the second break of the day.

Daniel “wildman75″ Buzgon (pictured left) is also in much better shape since we last checked in on him. We missed the hand, but Daniel told us he doubled up in a “weird” hand in which he flopped a set of fours on a 6-4-2 board and a guy at his table decided to four-bet him all-in with 5-6. The set of fours held and Buzgon is up to 57K.

Justin Bonomo also doubled up to 53K a few hands before the second break of the day. With blinds at 100/200 a player raised to 800 and Bonomo raised to 2.2K. The player called and the dealer rolled out the K-9-4-x-x board with Bonomo firing on every street and his opponent calling each time. Bonomo revealed his pocket aces after moving all in on the river and his opponent mucked.

Eric “peachy_k33n” Liu is just happy to be at the Rio. He arrived at the casino ten minutes late only to realize he didn’t have his registration receipt. Unaware that he could have someone at the cage reprint his receipt, Eric turned around and drove home to Henderson to pick up his slip and arrived midway through Level One. He said he only lost about 1K in chips and has since won that and more back and has 36K.
