The money bubble has bursted in the 2009 WSOP Main Event and 648 players have earned a minimum of $21,365. The Amazon Room erupted when tournament director Jack Effel announced the elimination of Kia Hamadami, who was left empty-handed after three and a half days of hard work. However, as has been a custom in recent years, Harrah’s has awarded the bubble boy with a free entry into next year’s WSOP Main Event.
The real tournament begins now as the remining players have their eyes set on the final table and first-place prize of $8,546,435. Because hand-for-hand play lasted 13 hands, there will be 39 minutes added to the current level before the dinner break as the staff adds three minutes per hand to the clock in such situations.
We’ll have a list of the P5ers who reached the money in our next update.
