Event #24 $1.5K NLHE has picked up right where it left off yesterday, with bust-outs left and right. With a hundred eliminations in the first two hours, over a third of the returning field is gone.
One of those eliminations was Scott “Seth” Montgomery. Scott signed his name “Seth” when bagging his chips last night, and we saw him hit the rail early on. We asked the players at the table what happened, and according to them Montgomery took some early hits and was left with less than 10K. He then shipped it all in from the cutoff and was called by an opponent in the big blind. “Seth’s” AJ was well behind QQ, and he didn’t catch up.
Chris “moorman1″ Moorman (pictured right) only lasted one hand. Moorman showed up fashionably late, and, according to our friend Anthony Yeh, he four bet all-in the first hand he played. We saw Moorman and his opponent table their cards, and the hands looked like this:
Moorman: Q
8
Opponent: K
K
The flop gave Chris’ opponent a good sweat when it fell 8
5
4
. The 7
on the turn was interesting, it gave Moorman straight outs but his opponent held the only club. The 9
on the river didn’t help Chris and he quickly hit the rail
Josh “theNorfman” Norris’ stack took a massive hit just minutes into the day. With blinds at 600/1200 a player in early position moved all in for 15.8K and Norris pushed his 19K stack in directly behind him. Everyone else folded and Norris was in a race situation with his A
K
against 7
7
. The board ran out Q
9
4
8
J
and Norris, who was gracious in defeat as always, was left with less than three big blinds. We missed the hand, but he hit the rail soon after.
Also making early exits are Eric “p3achy_keen” Liu, and Matt “choppy” Kay.
There are plenty of P5ers still fighting, including Ryan “ryanbluf” Karp. Karp had an opponent all in early holding AK against his opponent’s A
Q
. The K
K
7
flop pushed Ryan way ahead, but his opponent held the only spade. The 2
on the turn kept the door open, and the 5
spiked on the river.. Ryan was furious and left with only 20K, but he has since doubled to 50K with AJ against 88.
Cory “UGOTPZD” Carroll (pictured left) sports one of the biggest stacks in the room. His enormous stack got an upgrade when he eliminated a player at his table. We missed the preflop action but all of the chips were in before the flop. Carroll’s A
J
needed to improve against 9
9
, but the A
came in the window and Cory faded the two-outer to “<------------" his opponent. He then "PZD" another player after getting it all-in before the flop with kings against tens, and is now pushing 200K in chips.
Table 64 hosts four P5ers, including David “The Maven” Chicotsky, Brent “Horneris” Horner, Dylan “ImaLucSac” Linde and Patrick “BigRed000″ Stemper. There has been a lot of preflop action at the table and the four are not afraid to battle with one another.
Event #23 $10K NL 2-7 Single Draw
Justin “BoostedJ” Smith was eliminated early on Day 3 of Event #23 $10K NL 2-7 Single Draw. Smith had his sights set on the final table, but unfortunately he was the final table bubble boy. Justin can’t hand his head too low, he is still going to take home $19,871 for ninth.
WSOP 2009 Event #22 $1.5K NLHE Shootout
The $1.5K NLHE Shootout got underway about an hour ago and all 10 players are still at their seat. Mike “shipitthisway” Mcneil showed up late but made his was to the table and is around the starting stack of 450K. Jason “JCarver” Somerville took an early chip lead and currently has 640K. The table originally began on the main floor in the Amazon Room but the decision has just been made to move them over to the secondary featured table on the main stage. We’ll bbe checking in on the two P5ers frequently throughout the day.
