Winding Down

We’re down to our last three WSOP preliminary events before the Main Event gets underway Friday. Two of them will have champions by tonight as the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em (Event 54) and $2,500 Limit Deuce to Seven Triple Draw (Event 55) will crown champions. Twenty-eight players began the final day of the $1.5K NLHE and four P5ers are still going strong: Joe “JoeBlazennyc20″ Chaplin (1.1 million), Jason “jdpc27″ Wheeler (820K), Vivek “psyduck” Rajkumar (220K) and Chris Bonia (200K). Play got underway at 1:00 p.m. local time and Wheeler already did some damage by eliminating Brandon Wong when his pocket kings held up against Wong’s A-Q. Tonight’s victor will receive a massive $673,276 payday.
Blair Rodman is the lone P5er at the final table of the $2.5K Limit Deuce to Seven Triple Draw. He’s joined by notables John Juanda, Nam Le and Abe Mosseri. Action will get started at 2:00 p.m. at the ESPN featured stage and the winner will collect $165,521.
The $5K Six-handed NLHE event will be the last to award a bracelet before the Main Event. Day 2 will get underway at 2:00 p.m. with almost 50 P5ers still among the field of 160. Here’s a look at the player’s we’ll be covering throughout the day:
