Half of the 2,500 player field in Event #24 $1.5K NLHE has been eliminated in just six hours. That’s almost four players a minute. Tables in Miranda and Brasilia are breaking rapidly, and we are doing our best to track down the players being relocated.
One player who we will not find is Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania. After losing a race for most of his chips, Mohsin got involved in a three-way all in holding QQ. His two opponents held AQ and AK, and Charania dodged on the flop and the turn with the board reading 7-7-3-2. But an ace spiked on the river, eliminating Mohsin from the tournament.
Other players who have gone busto include Ben “bfineman” Fineman, Court Harrington, Brett “threatnasty” Switzer, Jon “pokertrip” Friedberg and Bryan Micon.
There are P5ers experiencing success in the Amazon Room. Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi busted from Event #23 but has since returned to his seat in the $1.5K and chipped up to 16K. Darryll “DFish” Fish (pictured above) is healthy, now sitting in the Orange Section with 28K. We also spotted Danny “dannyills” Illingworth in the Blue Section. Danny, who recently final tabled the $5K NLHE event, is above the 4.5K starting stack.
WSOP 2009 Event #22: $1.5K NLHE Shootout
JC “prtypsux” Alvarado doubled up with five minutes before the break to increase his stack to 86K in the $1.5K NLHE Shootout. We caught up with Alvarado as he was stacking his chips but it looked as though JC got them all in on an A-10-4 flop with top two pair. Alvarado was down to around 25K when we had last checked on him.
Tom “titantom32″ Braband, Matt “All In At 420″ Stout, Brent “bhanks11″ Hanks, Steve “gboro780″ Gross and Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers were all eliminated since our last report. Braband gave us a brief explanation of his bustout hand as he was receiving his payment. With blinds at 500/1000 Nick Binger raised prefop, another player called, and Braband moved all in for a little under 30K with Q
3
. Unfortunately for Tom, Binger had pocket jacks and called his all in. Braband hit a 3
on the flop but Binger’s pair held and Tom hit the rail.
Here’s a look at how the remaining P5ers are doing heading into their 20-minute break:
Table 58
6-handed: Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman (56K)
Table 59
6-handed: Mike “shipitthisway” McNeil (41K)
Table 60
5-handed: JC “prtypsux” Alvarado (86K)
Table 61
6-handed: Nathan “darkcheck” Tuthill (45K)
Table 62
8-handed: Kyle “dumpingkgb” Brossia (60K)
Table 65
6-handed: Theo “pittrounder” Tran (92K)
Table 67
8-handed: Chris “SLOPPYKLOD” Klodnicki (112K), Jason “JCarver” Somerville (71K), Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby (30K)
WSOP 2009 Event #21: $3K HORSE
We’re still nine-handed at the $3K HORSE final table but Stewart “StuMan23″ Yancik is nursing a short stack. Yancik was crippled in a hand against Chris Amaral in the Stud round when Yancik ran top two pair into a flush. Zac “Zacpacker” Fellows is sitting third in chips but James Van Alstyne and Michele Limogi are well in front of the rest of the pack.
WSOP 2009 Event #20: $1.5K PLHE
Jason “TheMasterJ33″ DeWitt’s fantastic run in the $1.5K PLHE event has come to an end. DeWitt took third place for $78,826 after he moved his short stack in with A
T
and was called by Marc Tschirch with 7
6
. Tschirch flopped an open-ended straight draw and then made a pair on the river to eliminate DeWitt, who earned his biggest live score since taking 2nd in a Heartland Poker Tour event for $103,136 in July of 2008.
WSOP 2009 Event #25: $2.5K Omaha/Stud Hi/Lo
Brock “t_soprano” Parker is back in the building. After receiving his second bracelet at the ceremony this afternoon Parker has taken his seat at the the $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo event, which got underway at 5:00 p.m. local time. Brock is on a mission to win Player of the Year so we’re not really surprised to see him here despite how exhasuted he looked after last night’s victory. We’ve also seen Jordan “Octavian_C” Rich, Jon “PearlJammer” Turner and Brett “gank” Junglblut, among other P5ers, in the field.
