West Moving North in the 1.5k PLO Rebuy by AdamJ on 06.19.08, 1:33 am

Tim “Tmay420″ West (pictured left) has accumulated one of the top stacks halfway through the 1.5k PLO w/rebuys WSOP Event #34. West’s 145k stack is towering over the other stacks at his table, including tablemates Jeff Madsen (18k) and Brian Powell (48k).

West’s stack is nearly four times the 45k average stack with 108 players left.

Jeff “yellowsub86″ Williams has one of the bigger stacks at his table with 82k although he admittedly “financed a few other’s chip stacks” in the rebuy period investing 30k in an effort to make his second WSOP final table.

Williams recently lost a nice sized pot after a read of his opponent was proved right.

Williams bet 3K on a flop of 9QK on the button; one other player called him. When the 6 dropped on the turn, both players checked before seeing the 7 on the river. First to act, his opponent bet out 7,700 and Williams tanked. “You got jack high hearts?” he asked inquisitively. After Williams made the decision to call, it turned out he was right. His opponent did have the higher flush and he mucked, his stack losing 10K.

Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby was battling with a 30K stack and must navigate through a tough table with Bruno Fitoussi to his right and Scott “BigRiskky” Clements to his left, an assignment he rolled his eyes at in dismay when asked.

Hamby got crossed up at an interesting starting table with Jamie Gold and Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond. Galfond, recent winner of the 5k Pot Limit Omaha with rebuys for $817K, was in for a handful of rebuys but didn’t last much longer after the period ended. Although Gold would seem to contribute a lot of craziness to the table with his quest to be the world’s best bluffer, Hamby said he played really tight from the onset but picked it up a bit once he won some pots.

Clements was the beneficiary of a dream flop in a recent hand when he raised to 2.5k in late position preflop. The short-stacked big blind decided to call and the flop came KAT. Both players checked. The 8 came on the turn and Clements bet 2.5K once again, getting another call from his opponent. The K dropped on the river and Clements bet 2K, claiming a call from his opponent, and flipping over QJ for the Broadway straight. After winning the hand, Clements increased his stack to over 30K.

Other notable chip stacks remaining:
Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi - 105k
Layne Flack - 100k
Thomas Wahlroos - 90k
Ted Forrest - 65k
Erik Seidel - 64k
Daniel Alaei - 35k
Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson - 21k
Gavin Smith - 14k
Steven “Cornell Fiji” Ware - 14k
