Vu and Le Out Early; Liebert Leads by Court on 03.20.09, 8:29 pm

In less than two orbits around the table two players have already been eliminated from the World Poker Tour final table.  Chau Vu (right) was the short stack starting the day, but was all smiles just to be at the final table.  Final table play started with blinds of 6k / 12k with a 2k ante and not too many hands in Vu put his last 200k into the middle.  Tony Behari called with pocket eights and his pair was enough to overcome the A8 of Vu.

Chau’s 6th place finish is worth $135k and left the remaining players 5 handed.  Three hands later a mass of chips ended up in the middle again.  Kathy had opened for 36k and Thao Le called to see the 522 flop from the blind and then checked the action to Kathy.  She bet 40k and was again called.  On the 6 turn Thao decided it was time to put in a bet, moving 80k into the middle.  Liebert raised to 230k and Thao then moved all in over the top for almost 800k.  Kathy called, turning over her pocket aces and Le and his pocket queens were one river card away from being cold decked out of the tournament.  The river was the 7 and with that Liebert was able to win a pot worth nearly 2 million chips and put herself in a virtual tie with Steve Brecher for the chip lead, both having over 2.1 million chips.

For Thao Le his 5th place finish brings $180,000.
