Peter “Belabacsi” Traply (pictured left) is the second player to advance to the final table of the $5K NLHE Shootout. He picked up big hands at the right time to defeat a tough six-handed table today.
Two of the world’s top-ranked online tournament players collided while play was three-handed. Traply and David “Bakes” Baker got all of their chips in preflop just after the blinds increased to 2K/4K:
Baker: A
J
Traply: K
K
The board was no help to Baker and he was eliminated, taking home $16,740 for his two days of work. Trapley then took out Davidi “legrouzin” Kitai when the two moved all in on an 8
6
3x board, Traply holding pocket tens and Kitai drawing with A
3
. Trapley’s pair held up and he advanced to the final day.
Lex “RasZi” Veldhuis’ shot at a second WSOP final table was just put to rest by Maxim Lykov. After fighting back to take the chip lead, Lykov put in a 4-bet preflop for all of his chips with A
J
and Veldvuis decided to call with A
4
. Veldhuis failed to come from behind and Lykov moved on to the final round.
Justin “fluffdog” Filtz and Cort “thecortster” Kibler-Melby were also eliminated since our last report. Melby got involved in preflop betting war with David Pham and came up on the losing end after his A-K couldn’t pair up against Pham’s pocket tens. Pham currently holds a 2-1 chip lead over Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger as the two play heads-up for a seat.
Also heads up is Peter “Nordberg” Feldman, who trails Danny Wong by a significant margin. We just caught him chipping up a little by raising a Wong river bet to induce a fold, but Feldman has a long road ahead of him to win his table.
WSOP EVENT #42: $2.5K Mixed Games
Kevin “kice32″ Iacofano was involved in a three-way Stud Hi-Low pot and it seemed like the players couldn’t get enough chips in the pot. You can check out the hands below, but we’ll focus on the betting for now. On fifth street Thang Luu made a bet, which was set at 2.4K. The player in seat five and Iacofano called. Then, on sixth street, Luu bet again, the player in seat five raised, Iacofano called, Luu re-raised all in, then seat five re-raised again and Iacofano called. The players were all dealt their final card face down, and both the player in seat five and Iacofano checked. The hands:
Iacofano: (7

) 7

Luu: (K
J
3
) K
K

J
Seat five: (A

) Q

Unfortunately for Iacofano, his opponent chopped up his chips. Luu took the high pot with his full house while seat five took the low with A-2-3-4-6.
Jon “PearlJammer” Turner re-raised John Juanda’s original raise before the flop to 6.9K during a round of no-limit hold’em only to see the player in seat eight move all in for a total of 20.9K. Turner berated himself quietly for his play, at one point saying anything besides aces would be an OK hand for his opponent to have. He was getting the right price and eventually decided to call with his A
8
. His opponent showed T
T
. The board came 7

Q
and Turner slipped to 44K.
A few other chip counts:
Rami “arbianight” Boukai - 75K
Eric “jakz101″ Crain - 64K
Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire - 42K
Jimmy “gobboboy” Fricke - 35K
Jonathan “FatalError” Aguiar - 10K
