The televised final table of the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic looms closer and closer on the horizon. The snow has all melted in Las Vegas and the town is back to normal with all roads cleared and the airport back up and functioning. In the Fontana Lounge the action is back in progress and the field has already been cut from 18 down to 13 with the early eliminations of Bill Klein and Ben “Bttech86″ Tollerene and then 3 eliminations coming at almost the same time, with two players being eliminated at one table while another was busting out at the other.
Tollerene moved all in for just over 400k from the small blind and Chino Rheem called from the big blind. Ben had an ace with the A
9
but was dominated by the A
K
of Rheem. The board came 8 high and spelled the end for Tollerene in 17th place for $57,645.
Nick “TheTakeover” Schulman lost a coinflip in the early going to double up Joe McGowan when Joe’s pocket tens held up against the A
Q
for Schulman. Nick is short stacked after the loss and will almost surely be all in during the next few hands.
Coming into the day as the chipleader Ben Straate has been quiet so far, getting involved in almost no pots and just biding his time. So far the strategy has paid off, with 5 players already eliminated and Ben still over 3 million in chips.
