We’ve lost a couple of P5ers in the early goings of Day 2 here in the $2K NLHE event. Adam “akat11″ Katz made an early exit, as did Austin “quietwinner” McCormick when he ran his A-Q into pocket aces all-in preflop. Michael “benvo123″ Benvenuti (pictured left) was also knocked out shortly after he lost around half of his stack and got the rest of it in preflop a few hands later with AK against pocket sixes. The J-J-6 flop was bad news for Benvenuti and the 10 on the turn meant he was headed for the rail as play drew extremely close to the money bubble.
Kenny “hixx” Hicks has picked up one of the bigger pots during the first level of the day when he and another player got it all in on the turn with the board reading J
8
3
A
. He held 3
3
for bottom set while the other player was drawing dead with A-K. Kenny’s opponent walked away from the table before the fourth trey, the 3
peeled on the river, but he did come back to watch the dealers count down the two chip stacks and determine that Hicks had him just barely covered and that he had been eliminated. Kenny’s now up to 98K.
Jeff “YoungSupremacy” Hakim also eliminated a player when he moved all-in from under the gun for his last 16.9K with the blinds at 6K/12K ante 100. It folded around to the player in the small blind who called all-in for his last 5K or so. The big blind appeared to have a decision on his hands, but he eventually folded leaving just Hakim and the shorter stack in the pot. Jeff showed A
Q
while the other player held K
K
. Hakim got lucky on the A
Q
8
flop to pair both his cards and take the lead and the board ran out 8
4
to eliminate the other player. He is up to 23K or so.
Pat “BigRed0000″ Stemper (pictured right) took the chip lead into Day 2 and his table has been one of the more active we’ve seen during the first hour of play.
Stemper has been influencing action for the most part and it cost him a big pot early in Level 11. Stemper raised to 3.2K at 600/1200 blinds and Matt Cutler called. The two saw a flop of 9
7
5
and Stemper bet 6.5K. Cutler called. The T
came on the turn and Stemper led out for 10.5K. Cutler moved all in for 22K more and Stemper called:
Cutler: A
2
Stemper: Q
T
The former chip leader was drawing dead and he sent around 45K over to Cutler.
A reeling Stemper also shipped a nice pot over to Bruce Buffer moments later. He raised to 3.2K preflop, Buffer called and the big blind followed. Dan “Wretchy” Martin, who was seated at the table, walked over to us and said that Buffer “has to have Queens plus.” On a nine-high flop, the big blind checked and Stemper bet 4.8K. Buffer made a speech before moving all in for 10K more. Both the big blind and Stemper folded and the UFC announcer pounded his chest before raking in a nice pot.
Jason “JAKoon1985″ Koon also took a major hit to his stack. With blinds at 600/1200, TJ Cloutier moved all in for his last 5,300 from middle mosition and Koon isolated by moving his last 9.5K into the middle. The rest of the table folded and hands were revealed:
Cloutier: A
T
Koon: K
J
The K
on the flop gave Koon the lead, but Coutier took control when the A
fell on the turn. The river was a brick and Cloutier doubled up, leaving Koon with around 4K. TJ then proceeded to explain to the table that he had lost 19 straight all ins with Ax against Kx online. Clearly rigged.
We’re now hand-for hand in Event #13 so stay tuned to see who made the money.
Most of our focus since the last report was on the $2K so we’ll head over and check out the $2.5K NLHE and $2.5K Pot Limit Hold’em/Omaha event for our next one. We do know that Jamie “thecronic420″ Rosen, Amit “amak316″ Makhija and Hevad Khan have been eliminated in the HA, while Rami “arbianight” Boukai and Daniel “amichaiKK” Makowsky are holding strong with over 575K each with 10 players left. They are playing down to a winner this evening.
