Three Down, One To Go by Court on 10.25.09, 8:49 pm

The final 10 (pictured) sat with a full table for a while, but once the blinds made it to 30k / 60k and a 5k ante the action picked up and there were three eliminations during the last level bringing the field down to 7 players and one from making the televised final table of six.  Both Aaron “aejones” Jones and Jason “StatusUp” Lavallee are still in, but neither are at the top of the chip counts.  Freddy Deeb, Tommy Vedes and Shawn Cunix hold the top three spots but the blinds go to 40k / 80k for the next level and chips will be moving in large chunks.

Chris Bjorin was the first elimination from the table, finishing in 10th place after his AK couldn’t improve against the pocket queens of Tommy Vedes.  Vedes had opened for 190k and Bjorin moved all in for 800k.  Eliminating Bjorin was one of the pots that helped propel Vedes to over 3 million chips.  The 10th place finish for Bjorin was worth $47,710, no jump from the 11th and 12th place finishers.

For 9th place Richard Sciuto earned $63,610.  He was eliminated when his last 375k chips went in with pocket nines but ran up against the pocket kings of Lavallee.  Jason was soon after involved in a pot where Craig Crivello tripled up to avoid elimination.  Tommy Vedes started the action with a raise to 170k and Lavallee made the call.  Crivello then moved all in for 410k and both Vedes and Lavallee called.  The action was checked on all streets of the K-Q-J-4-2 board and though Vedes had flopped top pair with his AK the pocket jacks of Crivello made a set and Craig doubled to just over 1.8 million while Lavallee’s stack continued to fall dropping to half the 4 million he started the day with while Vedes still had around 3 million after the hand.

Kido Pham ended up the 8th place finisher for $89,450.  He lost 220k to Jason Burt after he opened and then folded when Burt moved all in over the top.  Kido had about 800k behind after betting the 220k and after some blinds and antes whittled him down to 665k he moved all in over the top of a 180k opening raise from Shawn Cunix.  Cunix called with the AQ and was dominating the AT of Pham.  The better hand held up, which seemed a rarity earlier in the day and Pham was eliminated in the tournament leaving the remaining 7 on the TV table bubble.

Final 7 Chip Counts:

Shawn Cunix - 3.8 million
Freddy Deeb - 3.4 million
Tommy Vedes - 2.8 million
Jason Lavallee - 1.8 million
Craig Crivello - 1.7 million
Jason Burt - 1.3 million
Aaron “aejones” Jones - 1.2 million
