Tamayo Back in the Driverseat by Jessica on 07.15.09, 12:22 am

A back and forth battle between Jonathan “driverseati” Tamayo and Billy “Patrolman35″ Kopp rages on at the secondary feature table. First Kopp raised to 260K in middle position with the blinds at 50K/100K ante 10K and Tamayo called from the small blind. The flop came down QQJ and Tamayo checked to Kopp who fired out 450K. Tamayo called and the saw the turn come 4. Jonathan check-called a 1 million chip bet from Billy and the two were off to the river, which came 7. Tamayo checked a third time, Kopp bet out 2.6 million, and Tamayo called. Kopp turned up QT for trip queens and Tamayo mucked his cards. After the hand Billy was up to 19 million chips while Jonathan was left with only 4 million or so.

It didn’t take long for Tamayo to recover though. A few hands later he opened for a raise, Kopp called from the button, and Jeff Shulman called out of the blinds. Shulman checked to Tamayo on the 865 flop and Jonathan bet out 510K. Kopp raised to 2 million total, Shulman folded, and Tamayo thought briefly before moving all-in for 3.2 million total. Billy quickly called and tabled A8 for top pair and the nut flush draw while Tamayo turned over pocket kings. The kings held up as the turn and river ran out JT to double Tamayo up 8 million or so while Kopp dropped back down to the 15 million chip range.

Joe “LatestLines2″ Ward made very little progress since the dinner break. But that isn’t to say he hasn’t been trying. First, Ward tangled with Phil Ivey on a board of 10-9-6-9. Ward bet 200K, Ivey check-raised to 600K and Ward called after a minute or two of thought. The river brought an 8 and Ivey led out for 1 million. Ward against made the call and Ivey flipped over J9 for trip nines.

Then with around 17 big blinds left in his stack Ward moved all in with pocket sixes and Luis Nargentino called with A-Q. The flop brought 5-4-3, giving Ward a straight draw along with his pair, and the 8 on the turn further increased his lead. The river brought paint but not what Nargentino was looking for as it was the K and Ward double back up to around 3.7 million, just short of where he left the break.
