WSOP 2008
Aditya “intervention” Agarwal (pictured at left) came into the Main Event Day 2b with a below average stack of 25k. After the first few levels, Agarwal went on a rush, increasing his stack to over 100k. Agarwal won a big hand off of Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania earlier in the day to get the bulk of his chips. Agarwal raised to 1,300 preflop, Charania made it 3,300 and Agarwal called.
The flop came 6
T
7
and Agarwal check-called Charania’s bet of 4,500. The turn was the 9
and Agarwal bet 14k. Charania raised him all-in for his last 20k and Agarwal called, tabling the 5
4
for a flush. The river held for Agarwal’, which bested Charania’s pocket jacks that didn’t have a heart draw on the turn. Mohsin currently sits with 20k.
Cliff “JohnnyBax” Josephy has more than doubled his stack to over 200K this afternoon in the Brasilia Room. Josephy hit that mark when he called a player’s all-in bet with Q
Q
and had his opponent’s Q
T
dominated. The flop brought no help to the other player and Q
on the turn left his opponent drawing dead. Josephy has been one of the more active players today and doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.
Michael “BraveJayhawk” Jensen was recently eliminated when he reraised all-in for his remaining 17.5K after a player ahead of him raised and another made the call. The player who flat called held A
Q
and Michael turned over Q
Q
. After the flop came J
6
5
, Jensen looked to be in good shape, but the A
on the turn left him drawing to one out. When the K
came on the river, he was eliminated.
Jason “JCarver” Somerville (pictured at right) hit the exit after he got crossed up in an interesting battle of wills with his opponent. Somerville raised to 1,800 preflop and his opponent called out of the blind. Somerville’s opponent bet 2k into him on a 9-9-5 flop and Somerville called. The turn was a ten and Somerville raised his opponent’s 7k bet to 18.5k and got called. The river was a king and Somerville put his opponent all-in for 35k after he checked to him. Somerville’s opponent called and revealed a straight with Q-J, rivering Somerville’s K-J high, which was best until the river. To make matters more comical, Somerville’s opponent added, ‘I played it perfect, I trapped you,’ Somerville later told PocketFives. Somerville was left with 5k and busted shortly after the hand.

Chris “LUHMAN” Martin learned a costly lesson early in Day 2b: Never get your chips in with the best hand against Gus Hansen. Martin, who began the day with just 7,250, moved all in from the cutoff. Hansen considered folding from the button but then decided to make the call with A
8
and found out he was way behind Martin’s A
9
. That is until the 8
came in the door and Martin was unable to improve. His seat has now been filled by Hansen’s cell phone and BlackBerry.
A few Pocketfivers have more than doubled up their short stacks in the first hour of play. Chris “cbdr3799″ Dombrowski won a few pots early and then busted a player with a slightly smaller stack when they played a hand all-in preflop, with Dombrowski’s queens holding up against pocket tens. After starting the day with 13k, Dombrowksi currently sits with 32k.
Gary “GB2005″ Bogdanski recently scooped a big pot out of a limped hand on his small blind. Bogdanski completed the blind after an under-the-gun limp with the T
3
and the big blind checked. A flop of 5
8
9
got checked through and Bogdanski led for 1300 when the A
peeled on the turn. The big blind raised Bogdanski to 4k and Bogdanski went all-in for an additional 10k and got called. Another ace peeled on the river and Bogdanski’s flush bested his opponents turned pair of aces with a smaller club draw. Bogdanski currently sits with 44k.
Some others we’ve seen hit the rail early were Brian “sbrugby” Townsend and Jeremy” Chipsteela” Menard.

In self-serving news, we would just like to report that our own Brett “bertminatti” Collson took down the 91 person field in the WSOP Media Event today. Brett got down to heads up play with Paul Spitzberg and dealt the final blow to his opponent when they got it all in with Collson holding pocket aces to Spitzberg’s A-5. Brett earned $5,000 for his charity of choice, The Wounded Warriors Project and a large trophy that rivals any softball league championship trophy we’ve ever seen.
If you’re wondering why there are no more posts today, it is probably because we are out celebrating. Also, you know, because nothing is happening today.
