WSOP 2008
After being crippled when his A

failed to beat Rep Porter’s T

in Event #9, Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter moved all in pre-flop with A

and the other two players called. The board came A

and Nathan Templeton bet the river, inducing Rep Porter to fold. Templeton showed two pair, 4s and 7s, to Porter’s pair of aces. Devin takes home $151,842 for his 3rd place finish. Rep Porter went on to eliminate Templeton in heads-up play, winning the bracelet and $372,929.
Shortly after the money bubble burst in Event #12, the $1.5K Limit Hold Em event, the eliminations fell fast and furious. Aaron “NDGrinder59″ Steury finished in 56th place for $3,603 and Eric “jakz101″ Crain finished 47th for $3,963. John O’ Brien and Gary Bogdanski remain in contention for the bracelet.
Across the Amazon Room in the $10K Seven Card Stud event, Jordan “Octavian_C” Rich (pictured at left) continues to chip away at his live-pro-heavy table. In a stroke of luck, Daniel Negreanu donated chips to Rich after he hit runner-runner for a seven-high straight. PocketFivesLive also spotted Dario Minieri two tables over taking down pots from Doyle Brunson.

Tim “TMay420″ West, card dead for a half hour and finding himself outchipped 8-1 by John Juanda in the $5K NLHE Shootout, shoved his last 52K at 4K/8K with K

right into the J
J
of Juanda. However, the board ran out K

and West doubled to 110K.
That was only the beginning. West then doubled again when he and Juanda got it all in on a A-3-4-3-2 board when West showed 4
3
for a full house, which topped Juanda’s 5
2
for a straight. West is right back in the mix with 250K to Juanda’s 350K in what has developed into a marathon shootout match for the players… and reporters.
The money bubble has burst in the $1.5K Limit event and a handful of P5ers have earned at least $2,882. Gary “GB2005″ Bogdanski (75K), John “jdawg0913″ O’ Brien (74K), Eric “jakz101″ Crain (50K) Aaron “NDGrinder59″ Steury (31K, pictured left) and Anna “VietCutie” Wroblewski (31K) are all in excellent shape as the final 81 players look forward to a full night at the tables as they play down to nine. Wroblewski will be multi-tabling once the Limit event comes back from break - she’s also playing in the $2.5K NLHE event!
Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter is sitting 2/4 at the final table of the $1.5K short-handed event. The final four are on a dinner break and will return at 9:20 PT. Porter has 1.2 million chips, trailing chip-leader Rep Porter by a mere 60K.

While the hot new game in poker may be texas hold ‘em, 7 Card Stud definitely hasn’t dropped off the radar. The $10k World Championship of 7 Card Stud kicked off tonight at 5 pm with a star studded field of poker’s best and brightest. For some of these players who play in events every day it is nice to mix it up a little bit since hold ‘em makes up the majority of this years 54 events.
Over at the final table of the $15.k NLHE 6 handed event, Devin Porter (pictured right) has a little bit healthier chip stack. He moved all in on a flop of T
5
5
for 490k prompting Rep Porter, the current chip leader, to fold. In another hand Devin raised preflop and was called by John Conkright. The flop came J
T
7
, Devin bet and Conkright folded. Devin’s stack is now much healthier as he continues to make a run at his first WSOP bracelet.
Also running in the amazon room is day 2 of the $1.5k LHE event #12. 99 players remain and 81 will make the money so short stacks are going to have to make some moves if they want to cash in this event. Notable players still in the hunt include Eric Crain, Anna Wroblewski, Aaron Steury, Gary Bogdanski, and Ben Fineman.
In the $5k Shootout Adam “Roothless” Levy was unable to overcome Greg “FBT” Mueller. Levy lost most of his chips holding the Q
Q
on a board of 9
7
4
J
3
but his flush was trumped by Mueller’s A
6
. Levy’s all in was with the 8
7
against Mueller’s A
Q
. The flop of 9
6
4
came with some possibilities for Levy but the J
on the turn and the 9
on the river shipped the pot to Mueller and knocked Levy out. Just like the 4 at his table that went out before him Levy will receive $16,920 for his efforts.
If you ever wondered how we here at PocketFives keep up with all the players here at the WSOP, we have a cell phone so we can communicate with players via text messaging. Generally we request players send us their table and seat number so we can more easily keep tabs on them during a tournament, but some players like to send us a little more info. One such player is Phil “USCphildo” Collins (pictured left) who is playing in the $2.5k NLHE event. Some texts we’ve received from Phil today include…
“Uscphildo table 13 amazon blue. Woke up this morning and pissed some excellence. Probly gonna win imo.”
“Double up. Uscphildownage.”
“I’m so sick. Call the doctor. 16k.”
“Lol. These guys are so bad it tickles me pink. 20k with no showdowns.”
“Lost AJ to 66 allin preflop. 16k. I will rise and conquer tho.”
“I have now lost 4 straight flips when allin preflop. Still have 11k. If I actually start running good I’ll finish the day with 100k.”
“Sickkkkkkkkk call by phildo. 26k. Weeeeeeeeeeeee.”
Keep ‘em coming Phildo!

Less than an hour into the start of day 2 of the $5k Shootout and Leo Wolpert (pictured left) doubled his starting stack of 100k. He got all his chips in on a flop of K
T
3
and was called by an opponent holding the K
Q
which was second best to Leo’s A
A
. The 7
on the turn and the 3
on the river were harmless and Leo had around 200k in chips.
That was until Leo got it all in again against an opponent with less chips on a flop of 8
5
3
. Leo held the K
4
for a flush draw while the other player held the 8
8
for a flopped set. The 9
on the turn and the 3
on the river were no help to Leo and he dropped back down to a little over 100k in chips.
One table over, Joe Sebok’s stack had been sliding as a result of other players reraising him preflop pushing Joe off of some hands. When he was down to around 50k, he and an opponent both checked a flop of Q
9
8
. When the 9
fell on the turn Sebok got it all in and showed the J
T
for the flopped nut straight while his opponent held the A
Q
for two pair. The K
fell on the river and Joe doubled his stack back up to around 100k.
Isaac Haxton isn’t having quite as much luck. With the board reading J
T
4
J
3
Isaac called a large bet by Eric Lindgren on the river and when Lindgren tabled the K
5
for a flush, Isaac slowly rapped the table and threw his hand away. Afterwards he was down to around 20k of the original 100k.
Across the room play has gotten underway at the final table of the $1.5k 6 handed event #9. P5er Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter is looking to improve his stack as he is 5th in chips at the start of the day.

Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter will look to enter the Rio the same way he departed late last night: relaxed and booming with self-confidence. The 24-year-old from Provo, Utah has been in the poker limelight before, making a pair of WPT final tables in 2005 and 2006 for a total of $553K and taking fourth in the $2.5K NLHE event at the World Series last year for a cool $140K.
Porter (pictured right) enters today’s $1.5K NLHE short-handed final table 5/6 in chips with 357K — about 30 big blinds once play begins at 2:00 PT. We wish all the luck to a long-time member of P5s and one of the great guys in poker.
The $5K NLHE Shootout and $1.5K Limit events also resume today with several online players in position to win a bracelet. Adam “Roothlus” Levy, Leo “Superflous Man” Wolpert and Tim “Tmay420″ West are part of a 36-person field broken down into six single-table sit and goes in the second round of the $5K Shootout. All players have already made their way into the money, guaranteed at least $16,920, but the $477,990 prize to tomorrow’s eventual winner is on everyone’s mind.
The $1.5K Limit event is down to 179 of the original 880 players. P5er Eric “jakz101″ Crain is 2nd in chips with 38,400. John “jdawg0913″ O’ Brien (25.7K), Gary “GB2005″ Bogdanski (18.2K), Ben “bfineman” Fineman (15.8K) and Jordan “scarface_79″ Smith (5.1K) are also among those left in the field.
We’ll be following all of these events plus the $2.5K NLHE event that just began at 12:00 PT and the inagural $10K Seven Card Stud World Championship (kicking off at 5:00 PT) here at P5sLive. Good luck to everyone playing!
