WSOP 2008
David Singer is the winner of event 3 the $1.5k PLHE event after a grueling heads-up match with Jacobo Fernandez. On the final hand Jacobo flopped two pair but all the money didn’t go in until the turn when Singer hit a straight. Jacobo’s two pair didn’t fill and Singer took down the $214,131 first place prize money and bracelet.
As for event 4, the $5k MHE, Erick Lindgren just triumphed over Justin Bonomo in a manner similar to how the PLHE tourney ended. The money was all in on the river with Bonomo holding two pair and Lindgren a straight. Lindgren wins his first WSOP bracelet as well as $374,505.
In event 7, the $2k NLHE, the bubble broke right at the end of play for the day ensuring at least a $3,476 payday for all players returning tomorrow. Amongst those players is P5er Phil “uscphildo” Collins (pictured right) who ends the day with 70k in chips. He claims “I would have 140k if I was actually catching cards!” This seemed to be the case in a hand where the board came J

The enormous field of Event #2 - $1.5K NLHE has finally been whittled down from 3929 to one. During heads up play with Grant Hinkle (pictured at left) and James Akenhead, Hinkle raised from the button, Akenhead reraised, and Hinkle moved all-in. James made the call with A

and Grant tabled T

. If the flopped full house was not enough, the T
on the turn gave Grant quads and eliminated James Akenhead in 2nd place. He took $520,219 for his efforts. Grant Hinkle won the bracelet in addition to $831,462 in prize money.

Scott “gunning4you” Seiver keeps finding himself in dramatic hands in the 1.5k PLHE Event #3.
Only this time he wasn’t searching for tissues after the ending.
On a flop of T

2
, Seiver bet out 15k and got raised by an opponent to 30k.
A few seconds later, Seiver re-raised to 60k, prompting an all-in from his opponent for another 85k.
Seiver called and was devastated when he saw his 2
2
for bottom set was up against 9

for middle set.
“I’m so good at these tournaments,” Seiver exclaimed as he stood up in a dejected mood.
His feelings and bankroll swung skyward when the 2
dropped on the turn and he scooped a colossal pot, catapulting him to the chip lead with 20 left with a 250k stack.

At 6am this morning the powers that be decided to call it a night with 18 players in Event #2. The $1.5K NL Hold Em event was originally scheduled to play down to the final nine, but the remaining players took a vote and agreed to return at 2pm today and play down to a winner.

As the clock ticked past midnight in the Amazon room, there were still more than 70 players remaining in the $1.5k NLHE Event #2 field. They will play down to the final nine players tonight no matter how long it takes, then they will resume play ten hours from the time they finish tonight. Although there have been some big hands, players are not dropping at a high rate so play may last well into the morning.
As for Event #3, the $1.5k PLHE event that just started this morning, they are already hand for hand with only one player left to be eliminated before they reach the money. Players dropped like flies all day until they neared the money bubble and now play has slowed down significantly. Only 24 minutes remain until they cease play for the evening so it is actually possible that the delay that the hand for hand play causes might mean that the bubble won’t actually pop tonight…
…Or maybe it will! Hand for hand play just ended and the 72 remaining players will receive at least $2,725.
