Feature Table, Queen’s Kings Overthrown

With the lights, cameras and TV crews swarming around it is somewhere between dificult and impossible to get into the area right around the feature table to see what is going on. The multi-leveled Empire Casino does provide some views of the table, though none from a vantage point where cards or bet amounts could be seen with any hope of accuracy.
The distant view is good enough to see who is there though, and more importantly who is not. There will be no amazing story of back to back World Series of Poker Europe Main Event victory for Annette “Annette_15″ Obrestad (right) this year. From this point on anything having to do with her and this tournament will be a promotional media based affair. We have been told from those around the feature table that Annette’s pocket kings fell to the A-Q of Marco Traniello, presumably all in preflop.
Shane “Shaniac” Schleger has was also eliminated from the feature table earlier today.
Other players missing in action include Jason “JCarver” Somerville who did not survive long into level 5 with his severe short stack, and Yevginiy “Atimos” Timoshenko (left) - one of my pre-tournament pick to go deep.
Adam Junglen is back on the right track though, recently picking up chips with a raise after a flop of 8

2. The other player in the pot bet out on the flop for 2,150 into the 3,400 chip pot. Junglen raised to 6,600 and his opponent folded the AK face up saying “I wanted you to raise me preflop.”
Day 1A started with 159 players and finished with 86 remaining. Todays numbers were a bit larger with 203 players starting the day. At last check the field was down to 14 tables and no more than 126 remaining players. That number will drop as the night continues and around 185 players are expected to make it to day 2 play out of the 362 total entrants. The number of entrants may be off by 1 or 2 as the official registration list won’t be out till later tonight.
Legends of Poker Day 1B Complete

The second flight of day 1 play at the Legends of Poker is now complete and all players still in have made it to day 2. The field will be combined tomorrow at 2pm PST for day 2 play. After playing 5 levels on day 1, there has been an extra level added to tomorrow’s schedule to make sure everything runs on schedule later in the tournament.
Late in Day 1B Shane “Shaniac” Schleger was able to double up when his pocket fours won a race all in preflop against the A
Q. After the double up Shane finished the day with 15,800.
Matt “Mattg1983″ Graham (left) lost a pot late in the day when he called a river bet thinking it was smaller than it was. Matt had raised preflop to 825 (blinds 150 / 300) and the big blind called. The two players were bantering back and forth in a friendly manner and both checked the T
T9 flop. With the K turn the player in the big blind led out for 1,600 and Matt called after motioning like he was going to grab chips to raise. The 8 river card brought a 4k bet from the big blind player and after long thought Matt put out 6 of the pink 500 chips, thinking he was calling a 3/4 pot sized bet of 3k. As soon as Matt put the chips out his opponent turned over the A5 for a flush.
Instead he had committed himself to calling a pot sized bet of 4k and had to toss another couple of chips out to complete the call. Graham said he would not have called had he known the bet was 4k, but didn’t seem to upset as he still finished the day in solid position with 64,025.

Halfway Home

With only 5 levels of play scheduled for day 1 action, players are now at the halfway point of day 1B. Today’s larger field was expected to result in larger stacks, and the flurry of bust outs in the first level all at the same table seemed to make it even more likely a huge stack would emerge early.
So far at least it has not happened. Barry Greenstein is leading the way at the halfway mark with around 70k and a few other players are in the 50k - 60k range, but no stacks significantly larger than the leaders from day 1A were at this point yesterday. In fact, a large portion of the field is hanging right around the 30k starting stack.
Jason “JDN” Newitt was hanging on with around 5,500 but is now sitting in the staging area just outside the tournament room talking with WPT video interview host Amanda Leatherman after his elimination. Shane “Schaniac” Schleger is also outside the poker room, but he still has chips. The zero tolerance policy at the Bike earned Shane a penalty when one of his cards went off the table when he was mucking his hand. He will be back in the action shortly.

Big Slick No Good for Glasser

Players just returned from their second break of the day and the tournament clock says that the total number of enrants to this years WSOP Main Event now stands at 6,843 which trumps last years registration of 6,358 by 485 players.
Michael “inissint” Glasser (pictured at right) saw his main event dreams end when he got the remainder of his stack in preflop with the AK which was behind to his opponents JJ. The board ran out T7664 and Glasser was sent to the rail. Mike “MGinVA” Gallo was also eliminated when his pocket kings were against pocket eights and his opponent hit an eight on the river to end Gallo’s day. Eric “Willing2Die” Sonstegard, Bryan “odiggitydog” Oshea, and Andrew “tiltyjoker” Lee were also eliminated during the last level.
Brett “Gank” Jungblut was spotted in a hand with Allen Cunningham. With the board reading AK73T and only 1.2k in the pot Gank bet 600 and Cunningham said “I know it’s a bluff” before evenually folding his hand. Brett then showed Cunningham his QJ and Cunningham laughed and said “I guess it wasn’t a bluff” as Brett scooped up the little pot.
Across the room Shane “Shaniac” Schleger, Greg “Funkii” Dyer, and Ben “bfineman” Fineman were all in a pot with three other players. All six players checked the flop of QJ3 and saw the 6 peel off on the turn. This is where things got a little more confusing. Action checked around to Shane who bet 600. Greg made the call and then Ben, who was in the small blind, check-raised to 2.4k. Everyone else got out of the way, Shane folded, and Greg called Ben’s raise. The 5 came on the river and Ben led out for 4.5k. Greg tanked for a bit before eventually folding and Ben scooped the pot.

Little and Jaka Moving Up

Chips are flying in the early levels of the 1.5k NL WSOP Event #52 and many P5er’s are reaping the benefits in the 2700 player capped field.
Faraz “The-Toilet” Jaka (pictured at right) won a 7.5k pot when his all-in 1500 bet on the river was called by his opponent on a 99A37 board. Jaka tabled the J9 and scooped the pot.
Jonathan “FieryJustice” Little busted an opponent when he raised to 300 in the 50-100 level and got re-raised to 900 by an opponent in late position. Little effectively put his opponent all-in for his remaining 2k stack and his opponent called with QQ, way behind Little’s KK. The board ran true for Little, whose stack sits around 5.5k.
Nick “gbmantis” Niergarth got shortstacked early but won a race early in an all-in preflop confrontation with his KQ running down his opponents 99, increasing Niergarth’s stack increased to 1700.
Shane “shaniac” Schleger and Chad “lilholdem954″ Batista will have to battle back from rough starts as Schleger sits with 1k and Batista at 2k. Jeff “jeffboski” Sluzinski’s stack has been reduced to three green 25 chips but is in way better shape than Adam “Roothlus” Levy, who busted out early.
Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaubaugh and Matt “All In At 420″ Stout have chipped up a little in the first few levels with Slaubaugh at 3300 and Stout at 3600.
