The next table over, JC “PrtyPSux” Alvarado held steady at 45K, deadlocked in battle with Phil Laak. We caught up with the table as Phil Laak raised, meeting a reraise from JC in late position. Laak called and the dealer showed K
75. After the flop, Laak checked, JC bet, and Laak called; the dealer turned the 4. Again, Laak checked, meeting a bet from JC. After Laak called once again, the river brought the 3. JC showed down KJ to Laak’s KQ and lost the pot.
At this point, the play went hand-for-hand as several short-stacked players sweated the clock. After the bubble finally burst, other players left standing include Isaac Haxton, Andrew “good2cu” Robl, Patrik Antonius, Howard Lederer, and Andy Bloch. Players can almost taste the $374,505 grand prize and bracelet.
Meanwhile, at the $1.5K Omaha event, PocketFives players on break from the $1K re-buy event railed their fellow forum members. Jason “JP OSU” Potter, Shaun Deeb, Richard “Lee Nickel” Fohrenbach, Matt Stout were seen railing Carter “Can’t Close” King and Brandon “The Asian Undertaker” Schaefer. All nicknames courtesy of Shaun “F’in” Deeb. We learned from the railbirds that Carter recently doubled with AA against Philip Yeh’s pocket 7s.

JC “PrtyPSux” Alvarado got all of his chips in with 99 against an opponent’s pocket queens. Alvarado stood up, preparing to head to the rail, until he saw the flop of K9
7. His set of nines held and JC Alvarado doubled to around 27K.
Shaun Deeb and Amit “Amak316″ Makhija tangled in level 4. With the blinds at 250/500, Deeb raised to 1000 from middle position and Makhija called on the button. The flop showed T95 and Deeb led out for 1500. Makhija called, and the turn brought the K. Deeb checked, Makhija bet 4K and Deeb called. Deeb checked the river J and Makhija bet 11K. Deeb thought for a minute and called. Makhija showed 99 for a set and Deeb mucked.
Another pair of online stars battled a few tables over. Kevin Saul and Chris “Genius28″ got 6K each in preflop and saw a flop of QAT and both checked. The turn brought the J and Saul checked. Lee threw out a bet of 3500 and Saul called. The river was the {10s} and Saul led out for 8K. Lee thought for several minutes before calling with K2. Saul showed AQ before mucking and Lee won a pot of over 30K.
