Let’s Get It Started! by Crystal on 06.17.08, 3:20 pm

Getting the players (or maybe the dealers?) pumped up for today’s $1.5k NLHE event #32, the Black Eyed Peas song “Let’s Get It Started” was pumping through the sound system in the Amazon room again today as a field of nearly 2,000 players filed in to take their seats. The registration line for this event was out the door of the registration room and wrapped around through the hall 20 minutes before the start of the tournament so the total number of players will easily climb higher before registration closes.

There are numerous P5ers hitting the felt today in this immense field including Jonathan “FatalError” Aguiar (pictured right), Maria “Maridu” Mayrinck, Senovio “DorsalFin” Ramirez, and Andy “BKiCe” Seth. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on these and many other P5ers as the day progresses.

Last night the final table of the $10k World Championship of LHE (event #30) was set and Brock “t_soprano” Parker is coming into the final table as the short stack with only 166k in chips while the current chip leader Aaron Katz has over 1.2 Million. Eric “EFro” Froehlich was eliminated in 12th place when his KQ couldn’t catch up to the AA of J.C. Tran on a JT835 board. Froehlich takes home $35,861 for his great finish in this tournament. The final table will begin playing at 3 pm this afternoon.

Sitron Makes Costly Laydown by Brett on 06.14.08, 9:53 pm

Scott “ssitron” Sitron just found himself facing a big decision for all his chips in Level 5 of the $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘em Event. With the blinds at 150/300 ante 25, Sitron (pictured right) raised to 800 in early position with pocket queens. The player to his immediate left, whom Sitron described as relatively tight, then moved all in for 1400. Another player then pushed his remaining 4K in and yet another player shoved for around 3K total. Before the action got back around to Sitron, the big blind, who had everyone involved in the hand covered, also moved all in!

The action then came back to Sitron who asked the dealer to count down everyone’s stacks in order to determine just how much was in the pot. He thought aloud, wondering if, “maybe you all have A-K.” He eventually folded his queens, convinced that one of the four players who moved all-in ahead of him had to have him beat.

Scott was wrong. Very wrong. Here are the hands:

Player 1 (1.4 chips): A-6 os
Player 2 (4K chips): A-J
Player 3 (3K chips): A-Q
Player 4 (7K chips): 7-7

The player with A-Q won the main pot when the case queen came on the turn and the player with 7-7 took the side pot. The other two players were eliminated and Scott Sitron was sick to his stomach. He told the table what he folded and the player who made the 4th shove with 7-7 appeared to be berating him when he said, “you play too good, man.” Scott was left nursing a short stack of 4K.

Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul, on the other hand, has been on quite the upswing. After getting it in twice with set over set, Saul is currently the chip leader, having gotten as high as 60K. He lost a few pots later on, but still has a more than ample 40K.

Craig “Mr. Casino” Gray and Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman have also been eliminating players left and right — albeit by running insanely well. Gray recently increased his stack to 21K when he and an opponent got it all in on a QT62 board, with Gray holding 86 against AT. The A fell on the river, giving Gray his flush as the entire table rolled their eyes in amazement.

Freeman knocked a short stack out of the tournament when his Q2 drew out on QT. The window card was the 2 — the rest was history.

Tony “Bond18″ Dunst tripled up by moving his chips in with TT on a flop of T64. One player showed AA, the other mucked, and the popular Dunst is up to 35K.

Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter  (pictured left) has just doubled up at his table. With the blinds at 150/300, Porter (pictured left) raised to 900 from middle position and the button called. Porter checked the flop of 993 and the button moved in and got a quick call from Porter, whose 98 had the TT drawing thin. Porter held and is up to 12K.

Loaded Field in 5k NL WSOP Event #21 by AdamJ on 06.11.08, 5:58 pm

With the second largest NL buy-in aside from the Main Event in the WSOP, tables were stacked with notable NL players from live and online scenes. The 731 player field created a handful of stacked tables throughout the Amazon Room.

P5er Court Harrington was at one of the most eclectic tables of all, sitting alongside Sammy Farha, Ari “BodogAri” Engel, Ray Davis, Matt “plattsburgh” Vengrin, and Ben “Milkybarkid” Grundy. Harrington has emerged from the tough draw with one of the biggest stacks at his table, doubling his 10k starting stack to over 20k.

Ray Davis busted before the dinner break when he closed the action on the flop after a player bet into the field and Grundy called and Davis called on a J92 flop. When the K dropped on the turn, the flop bettor led big again on the turn, Grundy folded, and Davis tanked for a few minutes.

Shortly after the player mentioned to Davis that he should try to make the first break, Davis called with QQ, ahead of his opponents JT. Davis was sent to the rail when the 3h dropped on the river.  P5er Brent “bhanks11″ Hanks drew a tough starting table as he was up against three players with NL championship titles in Gavin Griffin, David Chiu, and Glen Chorny, a trio with 13.5 million in tournament winnings between them.

No table featured more notable players than Cory “ugotpzd” Carroll’s table, featuring Chris “Genius28″ Lee, Brian Devonshire, John Robert Bellande, Andrew “good2cu” Robl, and Richard “Quiet Lion” Brody. Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter drew one of the more interesting tables as well, playing alongside cash-game wizard Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond, Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby, and Steve “MrSmokey1″ Billarakis.

Redlin Busts Porter to Advance in Shootout by AdamJ on 06.09.08, 6:30 pm

Play was very methodical as expected in the early rounds of the 1.5k NL Shootout WSOP Event #17.

Most tables didn’t have more than a few recognizable faces but one table in particularly was stacked with live pro’s including Greg “FBT” Mueller, David Williams, Nick Schulman, and Carlos Mortensen.

Garrett “GBecks” Beckman drew one of the tougher tables with Amnon Fillipi and Michael Gracz tableside.

Playing 3-handed while most tables where six to eight handed, Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter’s table battled it out 3-handed for about an hour until Porter matched up with David “nutstr84444″ Redlin.

A few hands into the match with blinds at 100-200, Porter and Redlin got all-in preflop. With a 5-to-1 chip disadvantage, Porter with a 5k a stack, raised the button and got reraised by Redlin. Porter moved all-in rather quickly and Redlin called way ahead of Porter’s AJ with AK. The board ran true for Redlin’s hand and he became one of the early winners.

Matt “plattsburgh” Vengrin (pictured right) was crippled by Tom Franklin for a 12K pot and then met his demise a few hands later. On a board of KT7, Vengrin got it all in with QJ against Franklin’s KT. The T on the turn left Vengrin drawing dead and with less than 2K in his stack at 100/200. He then shoved J8 into KK and failed to improve.

Craig “MrCasino” Gray scooped a decent pot when he a shortstack moved all-in for 575 and he re-raised with AK, isolating his opponents AJ.

Here’s a list of notable players left from Event #17.

Dan “Stainley88″ Adams (6-handed), Jason Gray (3-handed), Sorel Mizzi (5-handed), Stu “TheDonator” Patterson (3-handed), Noah “fouruhaters” Schwartz (6-handed), Tony “Bond18″ Dunst (3-handed), Chris “sooooted”Vaughn (heads-up).

Devin Porter Takes 3rd; Limit Bubble Bursts by Jessica on 06.08.08, 2:36 am

After being crippled when his AJ failed to beat Rep Porter’s TT in Event #9, Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter moved all in pre-flop with A8 and the other two players called. The board came A42Q7 and Nathan Templeton bet the river, inducing Rep Porter to fold. Templeton showed two pair, 4s and 7s, to Porter’s pair of aces. Devin takes home $151,842 for his 3rd place finish. Rep Porter went on to eliminate Templeton in heads-up play, winning the bracelet and $372,929.

Shortly after the money bubble burst in Event #12, the $1.5K Limit Hold Em event, the eliminations fell fast and furious. Aaron “NDGrinder59″ Steury finished in 56th place for $3,603 and Eric “jakz101″ Crain finished 47th for $3,963. John O’ Brien and Gary Bogdanski remain in contention for the bracelet.

Across the Amazon Room in the $10K Seven Card Stud event, Jordan “Octavian_C” Rich (pictured at left) continues to chip away at his live-pro-heavy table. In a stroke of luck, Daniel Negreanu donated chips to Rich after he hit runner-runner for a seven-high straight. PocketFivesLive also spotted Dario Minieri two tables over taking down pots from Doyle Brunson.
