All’s Quiet On the Amazon Front

While the $2k Limit Hold’Em tournament still has two tables playing and Jeffrey Lisandro and Mike Matusow are still playing heads up in the $5,000 No-Limit 2-7 Draw w/ Rebuys, play has ceased in both the $5k NLHE tournament and the $3k HORSE tournament and the Amazon room is now mostly quiet. Numerous P5ers are still in the hunt in both the $5k NLHE and the $3k HORSE tourneys.
During the last level of the $5k NLHE tourney, Steve “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer’s stack was anything but steady. In one hand O’Dwyer raised preflop and the small blind called. The flop came A

, the small blind checked, O’Dwyer bet 8.5k, and the small blind pushed all in for 17k total. O’Dwyer said “I have to call!” as he flipped over his T7 for a flush draw that was behind the A
J of his opponent. The 9 on the turn and 3
on the river were no help to O’Dwyer and his stack dropped to around 30k.
Not long after that hand, O’Dwyer tangled in another big pot when Carl “colson10″ Olson raised preflop and O’Dwyer pushed all in next to act. Olsen called with AK and was ahead to O’Dwyers AT but when a Q, J, and finally a K fell on the board O’Dwyer’s broadway straight was enough to eliminate Olson from the tournament.

Olson, Hamby, Slaughbaugh Exit Event #9

Carl “colson10″ Olson, Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaughbaugh and Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby were eliminated back-to-back-to-back in the $1.5 NL short-handed event during Level 11. Olson (63rd), Slaughbaugh (62nd) and Hamby (61st) each earned $3,542.
The action was fast, so keeping track of the bustout hands was a bit difficult to say the least, but we saw Slaughbaugh (pictured at right) get it all in preflop with JJ against AK and was sent packing when a King hit on the turn.
Hamby, who had been short all day, shoved with pocket sixes and Ryan Young called with AJ. Hamby mentioned that Young had been on a heater all day, and that didn’t change when he went runner-runner for a flush to beat Hamby’s flopped set of sixes to knock the popular WacoKidd out of the event.
Tom “titantom32″ Braband’s day has been a rollercoaster ride so far. After beginning the day with 84K, Braband (pictured at left) took a huge hit to his stack when he lost a pot to Dave Zand. On a board of T32, Braband bet 5K and Zand called. The turn brought the 9 and Braband check-raised Zand’s 25K bet for a total of 85K and Zand called with KQ, which to everyone’s surprise was a 4-1 favorite against Braband’s 87. The 5 on the river shipped a 160K pot to Zand with K-high and left Braband hurting.
That changed a few hands later. On a board of T224, the 2-seat checked and Braband bet 7.5K into a pot of around 11K. Seat 2 min-raised to 15K and Braband called. The river brough the 5 and the player in Seat 2 bet 12K. Braband thought for a minute before coming over the top all-in for 25,900 more. He eventually took down a large pot without a showdown when the 2-seat folded and left Braband sitting comfortably again with 85K — just above his starting stack on the day.
