Stretch Armstrong by Jessica on 06.02.09, 1:26 am

During our latest lap around the Brasilia room where the $1K NLHE Event #4 is being held, there is one stack we noticed that stood out amongst the rest. It wasn’t JC Tran either. It was Jamie “pokerjamers” Armstrong (pictured left) who is now sitting with 210K.  We missed some of the action, but we just caught a hand at the 1.5K/3K ante 400 level that had been raised preflop and the flop read T97.  Jamie bet out what appeared to be around 10K from under the gun and his opponent, who was on his direct left, called.  The turn was the 2 and Armstrong checked his hole cards before betting 21.4K.  The other player thought for a while before folding and Jamie raked the pot that put him over the 200K mark.

JC Tran is another big stack in the room, currently sitting with just under 200K.  We inquired about his current relationship with PocketFives and he finally cleared up what we thought to be a messy break-up with our online poker forum.  Some of you may remember that at one point in time Tran was ranked on P5s.  We asked if he deleted his account since it can’t be found on the site anymore and he explained to us that there was an imposter Tran out there posting as if it were him.

More interesting than the imposter himself is the way Tran found out about the forged account.  He said the Tim “TMay420″ West came up to him at a WPT event and said he didn’t know that he was Tran’s favorite online player.  JC, who had never met West in person prior to this encounter, had no idea what he was talking about and West explained it was listed on his P5s profile.  Tran put in a request to P5s support to remove the fradulent account and that is why it can’t be found on the site anymore.  Phew.  We just thought he didn’t like us very much.

The dealer at Barry “BearW8″ Wiedemann’s (pictured right) table doesn’t appear to like him very much though, at least according to him.  We missed the hand, but Barry recalled to us how he was on the button and the first card he was dealt was a king.  As the second card came around Wiedemann reached to grab it, but the dealer quickly picked it up and flipped it over, revealing a second king.  The dealer explained to Barry that he saw the card and it was more than likely that the player in Seat 1 also saw the card, so he flipped it up to use as the burn and dealt him a different card instead.

What really broke Wiedemann’s heart was the huge pot that transpired during the hand in which players holding pocket fours and pocket jacks got it all-in preflop and, had there not been a misdeal, Barry’s kings would’ve been good.  After the hand he said he was so steamed he may just have to get up and take a walk.  Honestly, we think that may be the best idea.

Here are some other chip counts from around the room during the first level back from dinner break:

WSOP Event #4

Darryl “GoPhish” Dauenhauer, who seemed discouraged with his stack coming back from the dinner break, just doubled up at the expense of Barry Schulman. With blinds at 300/600 a player in early position raised to 1,800 and one player called. Dauenhauer raised the pot, committing most of his 12K stack, and Schulman moved all in. The other two players folded and Dauenhauer called with AAJT. Schulman revealed JJKT.

The board ran out K53Q5 and Dauenhauer increased his stack to nearly 25K.

Meanwhile, Dauenhauer’s friend Steve “whitealroker” Bent just informed us that he lost all of his winnings from the $1K Stimulus Event at video poker in the Rio Casino. He’s kidding… we hope.

Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier just hauled his 125K stack over to a new table in the Amazon Room. One of his new tablemates, who has around 4K sitting in front of him, offered a him a last longer bet, to which Jason replied “I’ll give you 20-1.” He was still considering as we left the tournament area.

Here’s a look at some other chip counts from the $1.5K Pot Limit Omaha Event:
