After nursing a short stack for most of Levels 4 and 5 Matt “Allinat420″ Stout (pictured left) moved all-in from the button for around 4.5K with the blinds at 200/400 ante 50. Vanessa Rousso counted down her stack before calling in the big blind with A

while Stout tabled 9

. He picked up some outs when the flop of J

brought him and open ended straight draw, but the turn and river came 2
, 3
and Matt was elminated with less than ten minutes left of Day 1. Andy “BKiCe” Seth also appears to have been eliminated in the final hour of play.
Devin “tranquilchaos” Porter has spent most of Day 1 trying to stay patient, which was probably a good plan considering he had one of the toughest table draws in the room. His table, which included Stout, Barry Greenstein, Peter “Nordberg” Feldman, and David Singer finally broke, but its a case of too little too late, as there were less than twenty minutes left in the day.
On the last hand before the table broke, Porter did manage to pick up a decent sized pot when David Singer opened to 1200 from middle position, a player called from the cutoff, Porter called from the button, and Allen Kessler completed in the big blind. Everyone checked the Q
T

flop. The turn came A
Kessler bet 2K, the cutoff called, and Devin raised to 7K total. Kessler thought for a minute or two before folding and, after some deliberation, the cutoff followed suit. Porter scooped the pot, building his stack back up near the 30K starting size.
In the previous post, I mistakenly reported that Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania (pictured right) had been eliminated from the event. Not only is he still in, but he managed to double up shortly after being moved to a new table. The player in the hijack raised to 1200, the cutoff called, and Charania made it 5,200 from the button. The initial raiser folded and the player in the cutoff called. The flop came K-Q-Q with two diamonds. Mohsin’s opponent, who started the hand with around 100K eyed his stack and asked him how much he had. Charania informed him he had 28K to begin the hand and the other player quickly moved all-in. Mohsin called, tabling K-K for a flopped boat and his opponent, who held 5
7
was drawing dead. Charania ended the day with 55K.
Official chip counts will be available once play concludes for the day and all the chips have been bagged. Unofficial chip counts have Esther Taylor atop the leaderboard with 139,475. Not too far behind her are Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire (97K) and Hevad Khan (97K). Jamie “TheCronic420″ Rosen also ended strong with 78K and Randy “Randers” Haddox managed to work his stack up to 60K despite a tough table featuring Gavin Smith and Nick Schulman.
