We just caught Steve “SteveyBallGame” Merrifield’s elimination from the $1.5K 6-handed event as we were walking back to the media room to report. With blinds at 200/400, Merrifield raised to 1.1K from under the gun and the player directly to his left raised to 3K. Action folded back around to Merrifield, who moved all in for 23K. His opponent had him covered and made the call:
Merrifield: A
Q
Opponent: A
K
The board ran out J
6
4
K
5
and Merrifield left the Amazon Room in disappointment.
Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania explained to us how he lost a 100K in the past level. Charania got his money in with 5
6
on an A-2-4-3 board against another player’s pocket aces. The board paired and Charania’s stack was crippled to 14K.
Darryl “DFish” Fish is sitting with 30K at a table filled with online poker talent. He pointed out Cody “thugmoneymakr” Slaughbaugh to us, but little does he know that Anthony “D1rtyR1v3r” Nardi is seated two seats to his left. Slaughbaugh has a massive stack of nearly 81K, which is near the top of the leaderboard.
Here’s a look at some other chips counts as 215 of the original 1,459 players are still alive in the $1.5K 6-handed event:

WSOP 2009 Event #10: $2.5K Pot Limit Hold’em/Omaha
We are still in the early goings of the action in the $2.5K Pot Limit Hold’em/Omaha and we didn’t catch too many big pots. What we did learn is that Jamie “thecronic420″ Rosen battled back from an early short stack described by tablemate Jason “JCarver” Somerville as “seven chips tall” to a more workable 3.3K stack. While that is still half of the 7.5K chip stack he started the event with, Jamie appeared to be calmly picking up small pots and working his way back up to average.
We also learned that Scott “gunning4you” Seiver (pictured at right) is running a very interesting experiment. He explained to us that he is alternating between developing the table image of a total n00b and flaunting his WSOP bracelet he won last year. He said when he was playing this morning he pretended to know virtually nothing about live tournament poker. He said when a player busted out at his table he even went so far as to pick up the seat card in the empty seat and ask quizzically, “Why what is this little card for?” In a tournament a couple of days ago, he prominently wore his bracelet and sat with his elbows on the table for the most of the day attempting to blind his opponent’s with its splenderous glory. He said he hasn’t decided which approach he likes better, but he will keep us posted.
In lieu of hand histories, let us instead wow you with this lengthy list of chip counts:
