Stacked Tables Stand Out In Stacked Field by Rachel on 06.17.09, 6:19 pm

The $5K PLO field is stacked with big name pros and online superstars as one would expect, but even in a section full of tables packed with talent, some stand out.

Table 13, for example, is home to Vivek “psyduck” Rajkumar, Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson (pictured at right), Chris “Genius28″ Lee, Josh Arieh, Howard Lederer, Jamie “TheChronic420″ Rosen and a couple other unlucky entrants.

We’ve been staking out the table in search of action but so far have seen only a few small battles.

In one hand Rosen limped with the blinds at 150/300 and Johnson raised to 1,250. The player in seat six made the call as did Rosen made the call and the flop was TT7. Seat six and Rosen both checked and Johnson bet 2,850. Both players folded and Johnson added to his stack.

Later Lee was the pre-flop raiser, making it 1,350 to go. Johnson made the call. The flop was was 864. Johnson checked and Lee bet 3K. Johnson let his hand go and Lee scooped the pot.

Jeff “yellowsub” Williams, Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi, John Racener, and David “Bakes” Baker are all seated at the same table across the room and Justin “Boosted J” Smith is joined by Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier, Phil “OMGClayAiken” Galfond and Max Pescatori at his table.

WSOP 2009 Event #34: $1.5K NLHE

Day Two of the $1.5K NLHE has only been underway an hour, but Cody “thugmoneymkr” Slaubaugh has picked up right where he left off last night.  At the end of Day One Slaubaugh had 140K and he has already upped that number to 190K as play goes to hand-for-hand.  We caught part one of the big pots that contributed to that 50K increase when Cody bet out 12.3K (around this size of the pot) with the board reading T62A.  His opponent, Joey Cappello, moved all-in and Cody didn’t even ask for a count before calling with A6 for aces up, which was ahead of Cappello’s AK.  The river failed to make a bigger two pair so Cody scooped the pot while Joey was eliminated.

Slaubaugh’s table may be vying for the title of P5s feature table of the tournament as it boasts him, Devin “tranquilchaos” Porter, and David “The Maven” Chicotsky.  Chicotsky isn’t doing too badly chip-wise himself as he sits with 135K while Porter is treading water with his Day Two starting stack of 38K.  However, the table with Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby, Jeff “crzysavage” Gressard, and Jeremiah “Believer82″ Vinsant is giving them a run for their money.  As Jeff and Jared noted, the biggest story of the tournament today is probably the fact that they are seated next to each.  We agree, it is kinda awesome.

What is a little less awesome, at least for Brent “BHanks11″ Hanks is that he ran his AJ into another player’s AA all-in preflop.  The board failed to improve Hanks’ hand and when the stacks were counted down Brent was left with only 3K in chips.  Last we checked he was still hanging in there, but with the blinds at 600/1,200 ante 100 he definitely has some work to do.

WSOP 2009 Event #33: $10K LHE

The LHE Championship is down to its final ten players and Pat “TorontoToro” Pezzin is currently the short stack with around 400K.  With the betting limits at 18K/36K that means he has about ten big bets left in his stack.  Chad Brown and Matt Hawrilenko are currently the two chip leaders in the event with around 750K apiece.

WSOP 2009 Event #32: $2K NLHE

Eric “whitE_mAmbA” Ladny, Clark “snake8484″ Hamagami, Daniel “amichaikk” Makowsky and Peter “Nordberg” Feldman are all still alive in the $2K NLHE event with 12 players remaining. Ladny has moved up to second in chips at last check with 915K.
