What a wild level for Shawn “sprstoner” Glines. He took an almost unimaginable beat during Level 19 of the $1.5K NLHE event in which he lost an opportunity to become the overall chip leader. Glines got it all in preflop with two other players, including Zac “traction” Gilbert:

The king-high flop brought two spades, giving Glines a huge sweat. The 4
on the turn changed nothing, but a 4
on the river sent a massive 700K pot away from Glines, who was left with less than 200K.
Glines was able to recover somewhat as the level came to a close. A player in the cutoff raised to 47K, the tournament chip leader raised to 145K on the button and Glines pushed his 155K stack in from the small blind. The cutoff folded and button called. Glines tabled A

board shipped the chips to Glines and he’s back in business with around 375K.
Tristan “Cre8ive” Wade was the latest P5er to make the lonely walk down the Rio hallway. Brandon Cantu moved in for his last 170K chips and a short-stacked Wade called off his 83K with A

WSOP 2009 Event #40: $10K PLO Championship
Considering he’s been at the top of the chip counts for most of the day, it wasn’t like Noah “fouruhaters” Schwartz (pictured left) was in desperate need of chips. That being said, his latest big pot against Josh Arieh certainly doesn’t hurt his cause. With the blinds at 4K/8K the hand saw five players limp in preflop including Arieh and Schwartz. After the flop fell K
Q

it checked to Arieh in middle position and he bet out 25K. It folded around to Schwartz on the button and he raised to a total of 125K. It then folded back around to Arieh, who thought for a while before calling. Arieh checked to Schwartz after the 5
fell on the turn and Noah quickly announced all-in. Technically, Noah couldn’t move all-in as there was only 290K or so in the pot, but the pot-sized bet was enough to cover Arieh’s stack. Arieh thought for a solid five minutes. He stood, he scratched his head, he counted his chips, and, all the while, Schwartz just kept his head down and said absolutely nothing. Eventually Arieh folded and Noah picked up a nice pot that sent his up to 815K.
Barry “barryg1″ Greenstein (335K), Matt “plattsburgh” Vengrin (470K), and Matt “mattg1983″ Graham are all part of the group of 30 remaining players. With an hour left in play, the tournament has yet to reach the money and it is looking increasingly more likely that they will have a very long day ahead of them tomorrow when they are scheduled to play down to a winner.
WSOP 2009 Event #42: $2.5K Mixed Game
While our chip count in the last post may have been lengthy, it was missing one important and rather large chip stack. Steve “MrSmokey1″ Billirakis has to be vying for the chip lead at the moment, as he is currently sitting with 54K.
For those of you looking for updates on Jonathan “FatalError” Aguiar, Jason “JCarver” Somerville, or Scott “BigRiskky” Clements, or any other P5er seated within a one table radius of Allen “The Chainsaw” Kessler we apologize, but we’ve run into a bit of a snag. Chainsaw has decided that Jess is unlucky and demands she leave the vicinity any time she gets too close to his table. She ventured over there during the triple draw portion of the last level and he showed her a hand full of Broadway cards before saying, “I blame you,” and folding. Knowing Kessler, we doubt he’ll be going out any time soon, but maybe we can send Brett in for reinforcements in order to obtain our end of day chip counts.
