Three events are on break at this time but the $1.5K No Limit Shootout and $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo events are still going strong.
Jason “JCarver” Somerville and Chris “SLOPPYKLOD” Klodnicki have been battling frequently in the Shootout and still have the two biggest stacks at their table. We caught up with the two online stars getting involved on a flop of A
A
8
. Somerville checked, Klodnicki bet 5K and Somerville called. The 4
came on the turn and Somerville check-called again, this time a bet of 15K. The river brought the 8
and Somerville checked for a third time. Chris debated whether to fire another bet or check behind and he decided on the latter, which ended up being the correct play as Jason turned over A
K
for a full house. Klodnicki mucked, giving Somerville the chip lead. Klodnicki isn’t far behind.
Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby was steaming a little after a bad beat he took in Level 4 and things didn’t any better for him in Level 5. Hamby got his last 30K in preflop with K
Q
against Klodnicki’s A
J
and an ace on the flop was good enough for Klodnicki to send Hamby out of the tournament.
JC “prtypsux” Alvarado was also taken out when he moved all in with A-J on an A-T-3 board but found himself up against A-T. All of the players eliminated today leave the Rio with $5,236.
Here’s where the remaining P5ers currently stand in Level 6:
Table 58
4-handed: Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman - 44K (4th in chips)
Table 59
4-handed: Mike McNeil - 79K (3rd in chips)
Table 62
3-handed: Kyle “dumpingkgb” Brossia - 120K (2nd in chips)
Table 65
5-handed: Theo Tran - 85K (3rd in chips)
Table 67
5-handed: Jason “JCarver” Somerville - 135K (1st in chips), Chris “SLOPPYKLOD” Klodnicki - 120K (2nd in chips)
WSOP 2009 Event #21 $3K HORSE
Event #21 is down to the final table, but only one P5er is in attendance.
Stewart “Stuman123″ Yancik was the final table bubble boy after losing a big Stud Hi pot to Chris Amaral. A few rounds later Yancik got it all in and was called by numerous players in Limit Hold’em. One player held KK though, which crushed Stewart’s A6 on a king high board. Yancik busted in ninth, and takes home $23,777.
Zac “zacpacker” Fellows is the remaining P5er, sitting third in chips with 620K.
We’ll have updates on the $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo tournament in our next report.
