Chris “SLOPPYKLOD” Klodnicki (pictured right) started day 2 of the $2.5K 6-Handed NLHE event in the middle of the pack, but a series of hands early today have sent him chip stack soaring.  First, Klodnicki picked up pocket aces at the right time and got it all-in preflop against A-K to win a 40K pot and send him up over the 100K mark.

Then Chris cracked aces when Joe “hoodini10″ Udine opened for a raise on the button with binds at 600/1,200 ante 100 and Klodnicki 3-bet from the small blind.  The big blind then moved all-in for 16K more and Chris felt he was priced in to call wiht KT.  The other players aces looked alright on the Q-9-9 flop with only a single heart.  However, the turn and river came 7 then 4 to backdoor the flush for Chris and send the other player packing.

He wasn’t done yet though.  Klodnicki’s rail, which consists of Justin “jurollo” Rollo and Anthony “d1rtyr1v3r” Nardi filled us in on the action we missed in a hand against Howard Lederer.  Lederer raised preflop from the button and Chris called out of the big blind.  Chris led for 4.5K on the J75 flop and Lederer raised to 9K total.  Chris called and the two saw a turn of 6.  Chris once again took the lead, this time for 11K, which Lederer called.  The river brough the 2 and Klodnicki bet 14K.  Lederer debated his options for a moment before calling and mucking when Chris turned up KJ for top pair.

We caught up with Steve “gboro780″ Gross in a hand where he bet 5K after his opponent checked with the board reading K74Q. The other player called and the river was the 8. It was checked to Gross again and he bet 12K. His opponent called again and Gross turned over A9 for a flush and the other player mucked.

Jeff “ActionJeff” Garza and two other players saw a flop of T43. According to another player at the table, Garza led out on the flop for 8.2K and the other player raised to 20.6K. Garza made the call and the turn was the 6. Both players checked and the river card was the 7. Garza made a small bet of 3.5K and the other player moved all in for about 55K. After some thought Garza laid his hand down.

Brett “threatnasty” Switzer
, who entered the day as the chip leader, added to his stack earlier on when his pocket queens busted another player’s pocket jacks.

WSOP 2009 Event #20: $1.5K PLHE

We’re already down to 490 players after the first break and there have been some P5s casualities left and right. Klodnicki’s railbirds, Rollo and Nardi, are gone as are Devin “tranquilchaos” Porter, Steve “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer, Matt “claw1980″ Holtzclaw, Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby, and Scott “gunning4you” Seiver.

On the other end of the spectrum, several other players are off to fast starts.  Blake “Balla-B13″ Cahail built his stack up to 16K early after busting Allen Cunningham and Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul and Tracey “xtrACEy” Nguyen have both tripled their starting stacks with 13.5K and 12.7K respectively.  Kevin told us he just keeps flopping sets while Tracey says she is having one of those days where her hands just keep holding up.

WSOP 2009 Event #18: $10K Omaha H/L

We’re down to eleven players in the World Championship of Omaha H/L event and we’ve got a couple of P5ers still kicking around. Pat “TorontoToro” Pezzin made an early exit in 14th, but Annie Duke, Scott “BigRiskky” Clements, and Jacobo Fernandez are all still in as we near the final table. Clements, who we all know is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to Omaha, currently sits in second on the leaderboard.
