WSOP 2008
Scott “ssitron” Sitron just found himself facing a big decision for all his chips in Level 5 of the $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘em Event. With the blinds at 150/300 ante 25, Sitron (pictured right) raised to 800 in early position with pocket queens. The player to his immediate left, whom Sitron described as relatively tight, then moved all in for 1400. Another player then pushed his remaining 4K in and yet another player shoved for around 3K total. Before the action got back around to Sitron, the big blind, who had everyone involved in the hand covered, also moved all in!
The action then came back to Sitron who asked the dealer to count down everyone’s stacks in order to determine just how much was in the pot. He thought aloud, wondering if, “maybe you all have A-K.” He eventually folded his queens, convinced that one of the four players who moved all-in ahead of him had to have him beat.
Scott was wrong. Very wrong. Here are the hands:
Player 1 (1.4 chips): A-6 os
Player 2 (4K chips): A-J
Player 3 (3K chips): A-Q
Player 4 (7K chips): 7-7
The player with A-Q won the main pot when the case queen came on the turn and the player with 7-7 took the side pot. The other two players were eliminated and Scott Sitron was sick to his stomach. He told the table what he folded and the player who made the 4th shove with 7-7 appeared to be berating him when he said, “you play too good, man.” Scott was left nursing a short stack of 4K.
Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul, on the other hand, has been on quite the upswing. After getting it in twice with set over set, Saul is currently the chip leader, having gotten as high as 60K. He lost a few pots later on, but still has a more than ample 40K.
Craig “Mr. Casino” Gray and Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman have also been eliminating players left and right — albeit by running insanely well. Gray recently increased his stack to 21K when he and an opponent got it all in on a Q
T
6
2
board, with Gray holding 8
6
against A
T
. The A
fell on the river, giving Gray his flush as the entire table rolled their eyes in amazement.
Freeman knocked a short stack out of the tournament when his Q
2
drew out on Q
T
. The window card was the 2
— the rest was history.
Tony “Bond18″ Dunst tripled up by moving his chips in with T
T
on a flop of T
6
4
. One player showed A
A
, the other mucked, and the popular Dunst is up to 35K.
Devin “TranquilChaos” Porter (pictured left) has just doubled up at his table. With the blinds at 150/300, Porter (pictured left) raised to 900 from middle position and the button called. Porter checked the flop of 9
9
3
and the button moved in and got a quick call from Porter, whose 9
8
had the T
T
drawing thin. Porter held and is up to 12K.
