That’s how Young Phan put it when referring to the absurdity going on in Day 3 of the $1.5K NLHE Event (#34). Four of our P5ers have been involved in the craziness so far.
First, Bertrand “Elky” Grospellier picked a great spot to make a move early in the first level of the day. With the blinds at 8K/16K with a 2K ante Grospellier raised to 38K and Joe “jcada99″ Cada reraised to 120K. Grospellier moved all in for a little over 200K more and Cada decided to make the call. Grospellier’s A
J
was in great shape against K
J
and managed to fade a flush draw after a T
4
3
flop to double up to 650K. Cada was left with 225K.
Bertrand used that history in his decision making later on, but we’ll first tell you what happened between James “mig” Mackey and Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin. Mackey raised to 40K from middle position and Baldwin moved all in for a little over 500K, having Mackey’s 270K remining chips covered. Action folded back around to James and he quickly made the call:
Baldwin: J
J
Mackey: Q
Q
The A
K
7
flop didn’t change anything but give each player a straight draw. But theQ
on the turn gave Baldwin his straight and the lead, leaving Mackey needing to pair the board or hit a Jack to chop the pot or he’d be eliminated in 18th place. The 7
wasn’t any help and a pained James Macky was sent on his way to the pay counter to pick up his $21,533. Baldwin, meanwhile, is closing in on 1 million chips for the first time in the tournament.
Two hands later at the same table, Grospellier and Cada want to battle yet again. Action folded around to Grospellier in the small blind and he raised to 48K. Cada put in a reraise to 146k and after a few moments Grospellier reraised to 280K total. Cada instantly announced all in and Grospellier unexcitedly made the call.
Cada tabled J
J
while Grospellier reveal his A
T
. Things got even worse for Bertrand when the dealer rolled out the Q
9
3
flop, giving Cada a flush draw. The turn was the 4
and Grospellier was left drawing to a non-club Ace. Sure enough, the A
peeled off on the river, creating and eruption from everyone in view. A shocked Cada was left in disbelief with his hands on his head while Grospellier couldn’t hold back a smile. Cada was sent on his way to pick up $21,533 for his 17th place finish while Elky took over the chip lead with 1.5 million. His hands were still shaking as he stacked his newfound chips.
Andrew “allofit29″ Youngblood is still hanging around with 250K. He’s on the short stack with 13 players remaining but walked over to Grospellier to shake his hand and get some of his “run good” so we’re expecting to have close to 1 million but the end of the next level. Jonas Klausen is close on Elky’s heels with 1.25 million as we approach the final table.
