Scott “r_a_y” Montgomery has been eliminated from today’s $2K NLHE event and his former tablemates had a discussion about who he was and how he played after his exit. The one player at the table who didn’t recognize Montgomery coincidentally was the guy that sent him to the rail. Here’s how the hand went down:
With the blinds at 25/50 a player in early position raised to 150 and Montgomery called behind him. The player to Scott’s immediate left reraised to 600 and both the original raiser and Montgomery called (each player had around the starting stack of 6K). The flop brought 9
5
4
and the first player checked. Montgomery moved all in and he was called almost instantly by the player behind him. The other guy got out of the way and hands were revealed:
Montgomery: 9-7 (suited)
Opponent: K
K
The turn and river were no help to Montgomery and he was one of the first players sent home.
Chris “moorman1″ Moorman took a cooler and a half when he flopped top two pair against bottom set on an A-K-Q board. Moorman managed to keep 1,100 chips to work with from here on out. “Live poker is dumb,” he commented about the hand on his twitter account.
Carter “ckingsuc” King continued his tradition of building a big stack early as he chipped up to 16K in the first level. King flopped a set and fired bets on every street with two players calling him down to the river.
One interesting table we found included PocketFives’ #1 ranked player Steve “gboro780″ Gross, JC “PrtyPSux” Alvarado and Eugene Todd. Gross and Alvarado got into it early. Gross raised to 150 from under the gun and two players called from middle position. Alvarado raised to 550 on the button and it folded back to Gross, who put in a 4-bet to 1,200. The other two players folded (one showed us A-K suited) and Alvarado tossed his hand into the muck. We’ll keep our eye on this table throughout the day to see if any fireworks ensue.
The blinds have just increased to 50/100 as Level 1 has come to an end.
The $1.5K NLHE Day 3 just got underway so we’ll be heading over there to catch the action and report back.
