In the first 8 hands at the final table of the WPT Championship Shannon Shorr (right) was all in 4 times, each time picking up the pot without getting called. Shorr started the day as the shortstack with 1,130,000 but his aggressive play early allowed him to pick up a lot of blinds and antes, which at the 60k / 120k with a 15k ante they started at and then the 80k / 160k with a 15k ante that they went up to quickly added up to enough chips to have Shannon up over 2 million by the time someone called one of his all in bets.
Ran Azor had opened the pot for 420k and Scotty Nguyen called. Shorr then moved all in for just over 2 million chips and after Azor folded Scotty made the call. Shannon won a big pot earlier in the tournament with pocket tens against pocket jacks to stay alive, but in this situation his pocket tens were dominating the pocket sixes of Nguyen. The board ran out A

and with that Shorr went from the day starting short stack to 4.9 million in chips while Scotty was left with only 400k.
The last of Scotty’s chips went into the middle soon enough, and he was called by both Shorr and Christian “charder” Harder. On the A

flop both players checked into the dry side pot and again checked on the A
turn but with the 7
river card Harder bet 600k when Shorr checked to him. Shannon folded and once the cards were turned up Scotty was eliminated with his A4 was outkicked by the A9 of Harder. For his 6th place finish Nguyen (left) earns $285,985.
