The handful of players remaining in the $5K Shootout have been given the option to either go on dinner break or take a ten minute break and resume player. Each of the remaining tables will make the decision about how to proceed and the tournament will run two separate clocks to accommodate those who stay and those who take the dinner break.
Davidi “legrouzin” Kitai was able to wrap up his ticket to Round Two shortly before play reached the end of Level Six. He held a commanding chip lead for much of heads-up play and was finally able to knock off his opponent. Dan “amichaiKK” Makowsky (pictured at right) was not as fortunate and fell to Phil Ivey in his heads-up match to just miss out on making the money. Also joining him on the rail are Steve “zugwat” Silverman, Blake “Balla-B13″ Cahail, Scott “gunning4you” Seiver, Hevad “Rain” Khan, and Jared “TheWacoKidd” Hamby.
Matt “ch0ppy” Kay looked poised to take charge of his heads-up match. After starting heads-up play with 80K to his opponent’s 70K, Kay pulled even further ahead when he raised from the button to 1.9K with the blinds at 400/800 ante 100. His opponent reraised to 5.8K total from the big blind and Matt called. Both players checked the 7

flop and when the A
hit on the turn the other player led out for 7.6K and Kay called. The river came 2
and the other player checked to Matt, who bet 13K, which was enough to get the other player to fold. After the hand, Matt was up to 95K while his opponent dropped to 55K.
The tides appear to have turned since then though. As we checked on Kay’s progress shortly before break we saw that he had doubled up his opponent and now sits with only 35K to the other player’s 115K.
Here are some updates on the other matches still going on around the Amazon Blue section:
-With the elimination of Hevad “Rain” Khan, Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger’s table is down to 3-handed play. Lichtenberger is the overwhelming chipleader with around 80K, while the remaining 70K in chips appears to be pretty evenly divided between his two opponents.
-Ryan “youngluc” Young’s (pictured left) lengthy heads-up match continues on. He has lost the chip lead and now holds 52K to his opponent’s 98K.
-Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier is also 3-handed at his table. He has 52K.
-Scott “r_a_y” Montgomery went from short stack to chip leader at his table over the course of a couple of double ups. He is in good shape with 95K 3-handed.
-Both Amit “amak316″ Makhija and Peter “Nordberg” Feldman hold big chip leads in their heads-up matches. Amit’s got about 122K while Peter’s sitting pretty with 124K.
WSOP EVENT #42: $2.5K MIXED
The $2.5K Mixed Event, which includes a rotation of eight different games, has gotten underway in the Brasillia Room. The tables are stack with P5ers, including but not limited to: Jason “JP_OSU” Potter, Clayton “Clayton27″ Newman, Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson, Phil “USCPhildo” Collins (pictured at left), Dutch “havoj” Boyd, Scott “BigRiskky” Clements and Jason “JCarver” Somerville.
Shannon Shorr and Steve “MrSmokey1″ Billirakis are seated at the same table. During a round of PLO Shorr and Billirakis saw a flop of 5

2
together. Shorr checked and Billirakis bet 125. Shorr called. The turn was the 7
. Again Shorr check-called a Billirakis bet, this time for 175. Both players checked the K
on the river and Billirakis rolled over Q
8
-X-X for a queen-high flush, which was good enough to win the pot.
Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier, also playing PLO, raised to 575 after a couple people limped into the pot. The player in seat eight called before the player in seat one made a re-raise to 2.3K. Both Mercier and seat eight called and the flop was 7
6
4
All three players checked to see the 7
on the turn. Mercier led out for an all-in bet of around 3K. Seat eight, who Mericer had covered, folded and the player in seat one went into the tank for a few minutes into the players’ first break of the night. He looked pretty disgusted by the situation, but eventually pushed his cards into the muck.
WSOP 2009 Event #38: $2K LHE
Ian “IanJ” Johns was the next player to fall at the LHE final table. He was eliminated in 3rd place, good enough for $77,576.
