Shootout Scoots Along by Rachel on 06.27.09, 1:14 am

We didn’t catch the progress of every PocketFiver still alive in the $1.5K limit hold’em shootout event before the players left on their one hour dinner break, but we did our best to provide as many updates as possible below.

One player who left before we could get back to their table was Shawn “sbuck21″ Buchanan (pictured at left). However, we saw him take down a pot not long before the break. Buchanan checked on a flop of Q65 and his opponent bet. Buchanan called and the turn was the 4. Buchanan checked and the other player bet again. Buchanan called and saw the 9 on the river. Both players checked this time and Buchanan turned over TT to take the pot.

We’re not sure how he’s doing, but we caught defending champion Matt “mattg1983″ Graham heading out to break, meaning he still has chips in the event.

Other remaining players and their progress:

Table 243 - Jordan “scarface_79″ Smith is six-handed with the chips spread around the table and no overwhelming chip leader.

Table 239 - Erick “jakz101″ Crain is the chip leader at his four-handed table. Tom Schneider and Toto Leonidas are also still alive.

Table 241 - Mike “goleafsgoeh” Leah (pictured at right) is still playing seven-handed. He has less than his starting stack with about 3K in front of him.

Table 228 - Brock “t soprono” Parker appears to be second in chips with five players left at his table.

Table 235 - Jeff “yellowsub” Williams has about 6K at his 6-handed table. With the limits at 200/400, Williams made a bet after Dennis Phillips checked on a board of Q42T. Phillips called and the river was the K. Phillips checked and Williams bet. Phillips then raised, prompting Williams to laugh and bury his head in his hands before calling. Phillips showed him the 43 and scooped the pot.

Table 227 - Matt “mattster24″ Sterling and Mike “SirWatts” Watson are both still alive. Watson looks to be second in chips behind Gavin Griffin.

Table 186 - Isaac Haxton is short on chips with four players remaining.

Table 204 - Jonathan “driverseati” Tamayo and Jim Geary (pictured at left) are playing five-handed. We caught the two of them in a hand earlier. With the board reading QQ26 on the turn and the limits set at 200/400, Geary put out a bet and Tamayo called. The river was the 2. Geary bet again and Tamayo made the call. Geary turned over AJ for flush and Tamayo mucked.

Table 168 - Shaun Deeb is one of four players remaining. He recently eliminated a short-stacked Jimmy Fricke and Allen Cunningham has hit the rail as well.

Table 166 - Kevin “ImaLucSac” MacPhee is one of four players left. Mario Ho holds the table chip lead.

Table 169 - No players have been eliminated from the table belonging to Scott “gunning4you” Seiver and Darryll “DFish” Fish.

Table 233 - We missed him before the break, but Ben Fineman reports via tweet that he is doing well with seven players left.

Table 165 - Grant “drossxyu” Hinkle has 6k with six left.

WSOP 2009 EVENT #49 $50K HORSE

Corey Zeidman made a good lay down on fifth street against Full Tilt pro David Grey in Stud Hi. Grey completed with the K and Zeidman called showing the Q. David caught the 4 on fourth, Cory the 3. Grey bet and Zeidman called. The 4 on fifth street paired David and he immediately bet. Zeidman caught a deuce and folded flashing AQ in the hole. Grey tabled AK and scooped the pot.

The next hand though he ran into aces up and lost a sizable shot. Zeidman started with the 9 showing and caught a spade on fourth and fifth only to presumably brick-out on sixth and seventh. Cory is below the starting stack with 126K.

Annie Duke took a 30K pot off of Huck Seed with just a pair of kings in Stud Hi. Seed had a big draw, but after the action went check-check on the river it appeared as if Huck missed everything. Duke rolled over her hand, K-K-J-T-7-8-4, and Seed mucked. Annie has one of the biggest stacks in the room with 233K.

Here are some other chip counts on break:

Justin “BoostedJ” Smith - 290K
Steve “MrSmokey1″ Billirakis - 206K
Barry “barryg1″ Greenstein - 151K
Justin Bonomo - 135K
Pat “TorontoToro” Pezzin - 120K
