After fighting a short stack for over an hour, Shawn “sbuck21″ Buchanan (pictured right) got the remainder of his chips in the middle one last time in the $1.5K LHE Shootout. With the betting limits at 4K/8K Shawn only had around two big bets to his name at his 3-handed table. The pot was raised preflop and the rest of the chips went in after the flop came down 9

were ahead of the other player’s A7. The 6 on the turn changed things though and Shawn was only able to draw to a chop if the river put a straight on the board. That was not be, as the river was the 3 and Shawn was sent to the rail. Literally. Shawn is sticking around a little it to sweat the heads-up match between his good friend Greg “FBT” Mueller and Tom Schneider.
Matt “mattster24″ Sterling is also heads-up at his Shootout table and currently holds a substantial chip lead, having his opponent, Robert Tanniru, outchipped 305K to 55K. The betting limits are up to 6K/12K.

WSOP 2009 Event #51: $1.5K NLHE
Sorry we don’t have much to report on this event this hour, but the bulk of time was spent coloring up the green 25 chips and sending the players on a 30 minute break. Play resumed just a few minutes ago and there are two more levels to go before Day One is in the books.
