Shamseddin Busted by Carter; Heads-Up Play Begins by Jessica on 01.18.09, 1:15 am

The chips were flying during 3-handed play as the wildest players at this final table, Soheil Shamseddin (pictured left) and Bobby Suer, did everything in their power to knock each other out.

First, the two got involved in a preflop raising war that resulted in all the chips going in the middle with Shamseddin holding KQ to Suer’s KJ.  Shamseddin turned a flush on the AT6J with a meaningless K on the river to double up to 3.3 million.  Suer dropped to 1.6 million, but it didn’t take long for him to bounce back.

Allen Carter limped for 80K on the button, Shamseddin completed in the small blind, and Suer raised to 480K total out of the big blind.  Carter folded, but Soheil called and then proceeded to check in the dark.  The flop came down 742 and Suer moved all-in for nearly 1.2 million.  Soheil called immediately and learned he was in bad shape with his QJ as Suer held AT.  Both players missed their flush as the board filled out 75 and Suer’s ace high was good enough to win the pot and send his chip count up to nearly 3.5 million chips.

Allen Carter seemed to be sitting back and letting the other two players duke it out until Soheil raised to 300K on the button and Allen called from the big blind.  Both players checked the KT5 flop and Carter checked again when the T hit on the turn.  Shamseddin bet 400K and Carter called.  The river was the A and Carter checked a third time.  Soheil said, “all-in” and Carter called instantly with his QT.  Shamseddin attempted to muck, but the dealer forced him to turn up his hand, which was J7 for jack high.  Shamseddin earned $263,725 for his finish.

Heads-up play is about to begin.  Here are the chip counts of our two finalists:
Allen “AawwNutz” Carter - 5,085,000
Bobby Suer - 3,410,000
