For someone who ran into a set over situation in back to back hands with the same player, Jason “JCarver” Somerville (pictured left) is in remarkably high spirits. We missed the craziness, but Jason kindly filled us in on his misfortune. First, he picked up pocket nines and he and the other player saw a J-5-5 flop with two clubs. The nine fell on the turn, Jason bet, and the other player called. Somerville bet again on the river and the other player made a small raise. Jason reluctantly called with his nines full only to discover the other player had jacks full. The very next hand Jason raised with fives, the other guy called with sevens, the flop came X-7-5 and, once again, Jason reluctantly called his opponent’s river bet only to discover he had the worst of it once again. Thankfully, Jason is still at average with 102K and appears to have lost close to the minimum on the hands.
Wes “JohnGalt” Mobley picked up some chips in a hand where the big blind led out for 6K on a 9

flop. Mobley raised to 18K from the cutoff and the player in the big blind 3-bet to 30K total. Wes thought for a minute before turning to the dealer and clearly announcing, “I am going to raise.” He eyed his opponent’s stack, which had about 55K behind, and declared that he was all-in. The woman in the big blind thought for two or three minutes before folding and Wes built his stack up to 195K.
Jon “sketchy1″ Eaton (pictured right)was also able to chip up without a showdown shortly before the first break of the day. On a flop of 8

the big b;lind checked, Jon bet out 6.6K, the player in the cutoff called, and the big blind check-raised 14K on top. Jon then moved all-in for 45.7K more, the cutoff folded, and the player in the big blind went in the tank. Both he and Eaton had approximately the same stack size, so his tournament life was essentially on the line. He eventually elected to fold and Jon scooped the pot to bring him up to 93K.
Dutch “havoj” Boyd and an opponent were still at their table well into the players’ first break of the day. We walked up to see Boyd raise to 15K on a flop of Q

. The player in seat four called and the turn was the 8
. Boyd checked and seat four bet 25K. Boyd thought a a few minutes before making the call and seeing the 7
on the river. Boyd led out for 50K this time and it was his opponent’s time to think. As the time on break ticked down, Boyd called for a clock, which annoyed his opponent who had given Boyd more time on the turn by his estimation. Still, the clock was called and Boyd’s opponent released his hand just as the floor person began his ten-second countdown.
Andrew “TheJunkie” Gilmore tried to build his stack when the player on the button opened for a raise to 3.1K at the 600/1,200 ante 200 blind level and Gilmore moved all-in from the big blind for 19.1K more. His opponent thought a while before calling.
“I have a bad hand,” Gilmore’s opponent announced before he turned his cards over.
“So do I,” Gilmore responded. Gilmore’s hand was slightly better off, as he held A

to the other player’s A

, but the board ran out J

and they were forced to chop the pot.
We missed the action but returned to Gilmore’s table in time to see tablemate Corey “comandr_cool” Burbick stacking the remainder of Jonathan “FatalError” Aguiar short stack. Burbick is now up to 160K. Joining Aguiar on the rail are Andre Akkari, Bryan “maravichlsu” Lanoix, Jacob “bazeman” Bazeley, and Jeremiah “Believer82″ Vinsant.
Andrew “luckychewy” Lichtenberger (pictured left) also took out an opponent. Lichtenberger raised to 3.5K before the flop and the big blind called. The flop was A

. The big blind check, Lichtenberger bet 5K and his opponent made it 5.5K more. Lichtenberger made the call and the turn was the K
. The big blind counted out his chips and moved all in for 28.3K and Lichtenberger snap-called, turning over A
K
. The big blind showed A

. The river was the Q
and Lichtenberger’s opponent hit the rail.
John “danglesauce” Sweeney doubled toward the end of the last level. He was all in on a flop of 9

holding J

to his opponent’s K

.
“Alright, we’re flipping,” Sweeney said, but he ended up on the right side when the turn came 3
and the river was the 9
. He now has about 70K.
Louis “MrBeeks” Werman also doubled when his A

help up against an opponent’s A
J
. The player’s were all in preflop and the board ran out 7

to increase Werman’s stack to almost 50K after the hand.
We reported earlier that Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi won a small all-in confrontation to increase his stack to 171K. He more than doubled that before the break.
On a flop of T

, Mizzi and another player got into a raising war, with all of the chips going in after Mizzi moved all in and the player called. Mizzi showed T

and his opponent showed Q

. A large crowd gathered to watch the dealer roll over the 5
turn and 9
river and Mizzi began stacking a massive pile of chips which now equals close to 360K, putting him near top of the leaderboard.
