After outlasting Dean “StickyINC” Hamrich who was eliminated in 4th and Glenn “TheGFactor” McCaffrey who went out in 3rd, Andy “BKiCe” Seth (pictured left) started his heads-up match for the bracelet with a virtually identical stack as his opponent, Pete Vilandos. However, after getting it all-in preflop holding A-Q to Vilandos’ A-K, Seth was left at a signficant chip disadvantage.
He found a good spot to get the remainder of his chips in holding A-J to Vilandos’ A-5. The T

flop gave Vilandos some additional outs and he hit one of them, the 2
, on the turn to make the wheel and take the lead. Andy needed to hit a five on the river in order to chop the pot, but instead it came K
to give Vilandos the win and the bracelet.
Seth will receive $372,855 for his second place finish. Congratulations on a great performance Andy!
WSOP 2009 Event #29: $10K Heads-Up NLHE
There are a couple of P5er vs. P5er match-ups here in Round Two including Jonathan “FatalError” Aguiar vs. Brock “t_soprano” Parker, Cory “UGOTPZD” Carroll vs. Sorel “Imper1um” Mizzi, Scott “emptyseat88″ Fischman vs. Scott “r_a_y” Montgomery, and Alex “Kadabra” Keating vs. Steven “Zugwat” Silverman (pictured right).
In the latter match we saw a couple of hands that were key turning points in the match. First, with the blinds at 300/600 we watched as Alex raised to 1.3K and Steve 3-bet to 4.2K total. Keating called and the pair saw a Q
J
5
flop. Silverman fired 4K and Keating called. The turn was the 6
and Silverman once again bet, this time for 8.5K. Keating thought for quite a while before calling. Both players checked after the 4
hit on the river.
“Queen’s good,” Silverman said.
“Don’t have a queen,” Alex replied.
“Jack’s good too,” Silverman followed. Keating shook his head to indicate he didn’t have that either. Finally, both players just flipped up their hands and Steven showed 5-8 for a pair of fives while Keating’s pocket eights were good enough to take down the pot.
Keating later told us this was the only time that he saw what Silverman was 3-betting with preflop, which led to the last hand of the match. With the blinds at 500/1,000 Alex put in a min-raise, Steven 3-bet to 6K, and Alex moved him all-in for his remaining 24K or so. We missed the hand, but Alex told us he sucked out to win once again when his 8-10 was able to outrun Steven’s A-Q to eliminate Silverman and win the match.
Yevegeniy “atimos” Timoshenko had been slowly chipping away at his opponent, Dmitry Stelmak, and had him on the ropes with only 15K and the blinds at 500/1,000. Timoshenko min-raised from the button and Stelmak called. Both players checked the 9
8
6
flop. Stelmak checked again when the Q
fell on the turn and Yevgeniy fired 2.4K/ Stelmak moved all-in and Timoshenko waited until the dealer counted down the bet before calling with K
Q
. He was trailing Stelmak’s 6
9
for a flopped two pair, but a lucky 8
on the river counterfeited Stelmak’s hand and Timoshenko advanced to Round Three tomorrow.
After the hand, he turned to us and joked, “easy game.”
Jeff “Action Jeff” Garza appeared to have an easy go of it in his match too, as he took down Matt Giannetti early in the second round. We caught up with the key hand of the match on the turn with the board reading J
T
5
6
. After Giannetti checked, Garza bet 8.5K and Giannetti made the call. The river was the 8
. Giannetti checked again and Garza shoved all in. Giannetti wasted little time calling with his J-8 for a rivered two pair, but it turns out he had been behind Garza’s J
T
the whole way. The gave Garza a commanding chip lead and he had Giannetti all in before the flop a short time later.
Garza held A
2
to Giannetti’s K
J
. The flop of A
8
2
gave Garza a big lead in the hand, but the K
on the turn gave Giannetti a few outs. The river was the harmless 7
, though, and Garza advanced. Others who have advanced through to the round of 64 include Alec “traheho” Torelli, Fischman, Steve “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer, and Jamie “pokerjamers” Armstrong, who managed to battle back from being as low as 16K early on in the match (where players started with 60K) to book the win and advance.
One player who won’t be advancing is Adam Junglen. He kept flopping big hand after big hand against Erik Seidel. Unfortunately it always came up second best. Junglen, who jokingly referred to his second-round opponent as “some fish named Seidel” on his twitter page, raised to 1K before the flop with the blinds at 200/400. Erik Seidel made the call and the flop was K
9
3
. Seidel checked and Junglen bet 1.2K. Seidel made the call and the turn was the 2
. Seidel led out for 2K this time and Junglen made the call. The river was the 3
. Seidel bet 4K and Junglen again called. Seidel flipped over A
4
for the nut flush and took down the pot.
Then on the final hand the two saw a flop of Q
9
6
. Seidel bet 2.2K, Junglen check-raised to 7.2K and Seidel moved all in, having Adam covered. Junglen called for his last 8K and sheepishly revealed his K
9
, which trailed Seidel’s A
Q
. The turn and river brought the 7
and 8
, advancing the eight-time bracelet winner to the third round.
WSOP 2009 Event #28: $1.5K NLHE
Jeff “crzysavage” Gressard (pictured left) was eliminated from the $1.5K event in the past level and we caught him as he was exiting the tournament area. Gressard moved in for his last 10 big blinds with K-Q but ran into the A-K of an opponent, which held up and left Jeff with a few hundred left. He was all in on the next hand with T
5
but couldn’t connect with the board and is on his way home.
David “The Maven” Chicotsky, Anthony “D1rtyR1v3r” Nardi and Ravi “govshark2″ Raghaven formed the “P5sLive Featured Table” in the Amazon Room until Raghaven was knocked out just before the completion of Level 9. Ravi got his last 20K in preflop with T
T
but his opponent’s Q
Q
held on to win a big pot. Chicotsky, who at one point today was sitting in behind 1K, has built his stack to around 30K, while Nardi has one of the biggest towers of chips we’ve seen at a little under 100K.
With the average chip count at 29K and 405 players remaining here’s the status on the P5ers we came across in Level 9:
Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson - 78K
David “Sir_Sands” Sands - 77K
Tyler “tydean” Smith - 62K
Kyle “kwob20″ Bowker - 42K
Cody “thugmoneymakr” Slaubaugh - 33K
Jason “JPOSU” Potter (pictured right)- 17K
Tim “tmay420″ West - 14K
Hevad Khan - 13.5K
Thayer Rasmussen - 7K
