Set for Sowers by Court on 12.16.09, 5:55 pm

At the start of the day Steven Landfish had 383,000 chips and the largest stack in the room.  After only an hour and a half of play there are a handful of stacks over the 400k mark, and Landfish himself has added a large chunk to his stack and is up around the 600k chip range.

Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers (right)
won a huge pot to build his stack to almost 500k and eliminate David “DevilFish” Ulliott. On the T-9-6 flop the chips went in with Sowers 224,800 remaining chips covering Ulliott slightly.  DevilFish had flopped top two pair with T-9 but Sowers had hit a set of nines.  His set held up with an jack on the turn and an ace on the river.

Steven “MrTimCaum” O’Dwyer was also able to get a needed double up during the level.  He as all in against Brian “tsarrast” Rast with pocket jacks against the KQ for Rast.  The flop came J-T-3 all spades making a flush for Rast and a set for O’Dwyer.  The board ran out with two nines, neither a spade, making a full house for O’Dwyer and doubling him to 125k while dropping Rast to only 40k.

During the level 23 players were eliminated, dropping the field from 130 players down to 107.  Glen “Choron” Chorny was one of those eliminated during the level.
