Seiver Sits. They Go. by Rachel on 06.29.09, 3:14 am

Scott “gunning4you” Seiver was very disappointed when his table in the $1.5K Stud Hi-Low event, which included Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier, was broken. He jokingly tried to convince the floor that his table was playing a sit-and-go and was not part of the tournament.

“I sit and they go,” said Seiver, who has built up an impressive stack of 16K on day one.

The table used to be home to Allen Kessler, but he busted recently, much to the delight of Seiver, who apparently had vowed to buy a drink for the man who busted “The Chainsaw.”

“Kessler’s knocked out?” Seiver said. “COCKTAILS.”

Seiver had missed the actual hand that brought on the demise of Kessler because he was wrapped up in a conversation between Mercier and Tim Vance. Mercier was aking Vance if he wanted to play “heads up for rolls.” Vance didn’t know what Mercier meant, but after it was explained to him he agreed to do it as long as he would get all of Mercier’s bankroll if he won and Mercier would get all of his if Mercier won.

“I’m sure yours is a LOT bigger than mine,” Vance said.

Eventually Seiver suggested they just play for each other’s hat.
Mercier is wearing a black hat, absent of any logos while Vance has a yellow hat on tonight. Vance didn’t like that idea quite as much.

“No,” he said. “His hat sucks.”

Whatever the size of his bankroll, Mercier has about 5K in tournament chips in front of him right now.

Chip counts:

Bryan “badbeatninja” Devonshire - 8.5K
Jon “PearlJammer” Turner - 8.5K
Justin Bonomo - 7.5K
Bryan Micon - 7K
Brett “Gank” Jungblut - 6K (pictured at right)
Zak “traction” Gilbert - 4K
Brock “t soprano” Parker - 3K

WSOP EVENT #52: $3K NLHE TRIPLE CHANCE

We caught an interesting hand involving Jason “JCarver” Somerville (pictured at left) during the last level of play. With the blinds at 300/600/75, Somerville opened to 1.55K from early position. Two players called him before the button and the player in the small blind pushed all-in. Action fell back on Jason who went into the tank. Slowly he assembled some chips and called the extra 6K. One player to Somerville’s left gave it a thought before folding while the other instantly mucked. The hands were tabled:

Somerville: AA
Small Blind: KQ

The board ran QJ484 and Jason’s opponent was eliminated. One of the players that folded winced when the flop fell. ”I had queens!,” he exclaimed. Somerville dodged the one-outer and is now above 30K in chips.

Scott “r_a_y” Montgomery was also dealt a pair of aces at a nearby table. Montgomery played them slowly, check-calling both the flop and the turn. The action on the river went check-check with the board reading J72K5 and Scott’s AA was good enough to win the pot. Montgomery sits with 40K.

We missed it, butMaria “Maridu” Mayrinck filled us in on Amanda “Mandy B” Baker’s elimination. It was pretty standard, according to Maria. A player opened for a raise and Baker shoved all in with AQ. The raiser called with 99 and held.

Chris “SLOPPYKLOD” Klodnicki, Ben “bfineman” Fineman, Amit “amak316″ Makhija, Justin “jurollo” Rollo and Matt “Claw1980″ Holtzclaw have busted from the tournament as well.

WSOP EVENT #51: $1.5K NLHE

There was easily over 100K already in the pot when we walked up to Owen “ocrowe” Crowe’s table in the $1.5K NLHE tourney. The turn had just been dealt and the board read T62A. Crowe led out for 80K with about 200K behind. The player in seat nine, who had about 200K in his stack at this point as well, went thought for a long time before mucking.

Apparently Crowe had been making a habit out of pushing his table around because when the floor walked over after the hand to tell crow he and his huge pile of chips was being moved to the another table, this conversation took place at his table:

“So glad he is gone. So glad.” Then…

“What a sicko.” After that…

“He’s really good and aggressive. I can’t mess with him too much when he’s sitting right there,” said the player who had been seated to Crowe’s immediate right. There was more but the point is no one at the table was sad to see Crowe and his 380K leave.

We missed the knockouts, but Michael “benvo123″ Benvenuti, Michael “Gags30″ Gagliano, Shaun “Cougars4444″ Hendrickson and Scott “dorinvandy” Dorin have all been eliminated.

Josh “SDouble” Schlein (pictured at right) is still alive and very healthy with more than 420K. Alex Jacob is still playing as well, with about 180K in front of him at last check.
