In a room full of rather quiet and focused players, there is one guy who appears to be having the time of his life. Scott “gunning4you” Seiver (pictured left) cannot seem to find words adequate enough to express how happy he is to be playing at a table with the two best known Phils in poker: Ivey and Hellmuth.
Recently he was teaching Hellmuth about the world of internet poker players and the 11-time bracelet winner seemed less than impressed. That didn’t deter Scott’s enthusiasm at all though. Here are a few Seiver gems we overheard while watching his table:
“I want to play this table every day for the rest of my life. Not even so much for the poker, I want to converse with some great minds.”
“Ive never played with Phil Hellmuth before. I thought it would be great. I had no idea it would be *this* great. ”
(Said after Hellmuth made a nice value bet on the river in a pot) “Look at Hellmuth, milking the cow! ::gestures literally milking a cow::”
Another player in high spirits is David “Bakes” Baker who recently doubled through Joe Hachem. We missed most of the action, but we did see that Baker was all-in on a board reading 5

. Baker’s nut flush helped propel his stack to around 240K whil Hachem dropped to around 40K, which still leaves him enough room to maneuver since blinds are currently at 800/1,600 ante 200.
Just a table over from Baker, Shaun Deeb and Lex “RasZi” Velduis tangled in a hand. Preflop action is unknown, but there was about 70K in the pot with the board reading A

. Velduis checked and Deeb announced all in. Deeb was sitting with around 130K, and had Velduis covered by around 30K. Velduis mucked his hand and Deeb collected the pot increasing his stack over 200K. After the hand Deeb turned to Mike “SirWatts” Watson on his right and asked, “Are you shoving any river there?” The entire table was amused, even Velduis.
Things are a little more serious at the table featuring Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson (pictured right) and Vivek “psyduck” Rajmukar. We caught up with the action after all the cards had been dealt, but Johnson lost a big pot after apparently exposing his hand to his opponent accidently. The floor was called over sometime during the confusion and it was decided that his opponent’s big river bet would stand and after much painful deliberation, Johnson decided to call. His opponent showed a straight and Johnson walked away from the table muttering, “fool.”
He returned a short time later with a new Vitamin Water in hand and was informed by the floor that he had been assessed a one hand penalty for exposing his hand during play. Johnson just calmly handed over his I.D. so the floor could record the penalty and proceeded to discuss what had happened with Rajkumar, who is sitting on his left.
James “mig.com” Mackey is playing some serious poker over at his table. With the blinds at 600/1,200 ante 200 he raised the to 3K from the button. Vanessa Rousso flatted from the small blind and Heather Mercer called out of the big. The flop came: 7

. Rousso and Mercer checked, but Mackey pushed the action betting 5.3K into the 9.9K pot. Rousso raised to 15K. Mercer folded and Mackey made the call. The turn brought the 3
and Rousso fired another 15K into the pot. Mackey quickly called. The K
spiked on the river and Rousso tanked. After removing her glasses and studying Mackey, she fired two green 25K chips into the pot. Mackey instafolded, leaving himself with around 90K.
