Schultz Down;Parker Maintains Lead in $2.5K NLHE by Brett on 06.10.09, 1:14 am

Andy “BadgerPro” Schultz was  just eliminated from the $2.5K Six-handed No Limit Hold ‘em event. After losing a key pot moments earlier, Schultz got his remining chips in with A8 against an opponent’s pocket tens. The AQJ flop provided a tease for Andy as the K fell on the turn, giving his opponent a straight and sending Schultz home in 41st place with $9,186.

We’re assuming Brock “t_soprano” Parker is still the chip leader but Alex Ivarsson just won a big pot to increase his stack to around 750K.  Blair “blur5f6″ Hinkle has also been on a tear, creating havoc for his tablemates by 3-betting and 4-betting without resistance. We’ll see if they begin to fight back once players return from their 20-minute break.

Here’s a look at the P5ers still alive with 37 remaining and the average stack at 222K:

Brock “t_soprano” Parker - 747K
Blair “blur5f6″ Hinkle - 425K
Brett “threatnasty” Switzer - 290K
Jay “SEABEAST” Kinkade - 170K
Sasha “bikocruz” Rosewood - 130K
Russell “rcrane082985″ Crane - 110K
Clayton “clayton_27″ Newman - 108K

WSOP Event #21: $1.5K PLHE

There was a mysterious vibe in Event #21 the past hour. We’d like to call that vibe the “Playoff Effect.” As we perused the Amazon Room, over half the eyes were glued to the television as the very close Lakers-Magic game wound down. After losing players at a break neck pace all day, the action grinded to a screeching halt. Rami “arbianight” Boukai even stuck around after he was eliminated to sweat the game and see how it ended. After the game ended the player regained their focus at the table and we caught a few hands that went down:

Scott “stsitron” Sitron (pictured left) was able to pick up some chips when he and a shorter stack got it all-in preflop with Sitron holding QQ to the other player’s AJ. The queens held as the board ran out 74388 and he was able to chip up to 14K.

David “The Maven” Chicotsky was also able to chip up through another player’s elimination when he and Matt “mattg1983″ Graham got it all-in preflop with Matt holding A-10 to David’s K-Q. The KQ prevailed over Matt’s ace and he was sent to the rail while the elimination revved Chicotsky’s stack up to 32K. He has since dipped a little and now sits with 25K.

Darryll “DFish” Fish tried his best to eliminate a player when he opened to 2K with the blinds at 400/800 and the player in the button called. The short-stacked big blind then movd all-in for 7.1K more and Darryll thought for a minute or so before calling. The other player folded and Fish’s KJ was racing with the other player’s 77. The T72 left Darryll drawing to runner runner to make a winning hand. The 2 on the turn sealed the deal for his opponent’s double up though and he took down the pot. After the hand, Darryll still had plenty of chips with around 48K.

Here is a complete list of chip counts of the P5ers we spotted remaining in the field as Level 8 got rolling:

Tracey “xtrACEy” Nguyen - 70K
Darryll “DFish” Fish - 48K
Jeremiah “Believer82″ Vinsant - 40K
Ravi “govshark2″ Raghaven - 38K
Joe Sebok - 36K
Phil “USCPhildo” Collins (pictured right)- 29K
Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul - 28K
David “The Maven” Chicotsky - 25K
Jason “treysfull21″ Mercier - 22K
Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin - 22K
Blake “Balla-B13″ Cahail - 22K
Scott “stsitron” Sitron - 14K
Hunter “The_Hunt_D” Frey - 10K
Corey “comandr_cool” Burbick - 4.5K
Brett “gank” Jungblut - 3.5K

WSOP 2009 Event # 18: $10K Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better

Daniel Negreanu was taken out by Scott “BigRiskky” Clements in fourth place (after surviving countless all-in moments), leaving just Daniel Alaei, Clements and Ben Boyd batting for the bracelet and prize of $445,898. Alaei has more than half the chips in play and Boyd is on the short stack. We’ll continue to provide coverage until a champion is crowned for those that aren’t watching the online feed.
