After losing a race to Hoyt Corkins and becoming critically short stacked Nick “TheTakeover” Schulman (right) was able to get a couple of double ups and fight his way back to a somewhat more playable stack. The third double up didn’t happen though and after doubling through Mike Matusow and then Hoyt Corkins he ran into Justin Young. Schulman had a race situation for a pot worth around 1 million chips but his pocket jacks couldn’t hold up against the AK of Young and Schulman became the 13th place finisher for $72,060 leaving the remaining two tables playing 6 handed.
It took just 1 level of play to get the field down to 12, but now most of the short stacks are gone and play is expected to level off for a while. Here are how the remaining 12 stack up coming into the second level:
Evan McNiff - 3,806,000
Justin Young - 2,650,000
Chino Rheem - 2,149,000
Clonie Gowen - 2,045,000
Ben “straate” Straate - 1,815,000
Amnon Filippi - 1,585,000
Joe McGowan - 1,430,000
Brett Richey - 1,382,000
Robert Mizrachi - 1,358,000
Hoyt Corkins - 1,341,000
Mike Matusow - 1,271,000
Steve Sung - 1,016,000
