On the final hand of Event #36, Jordan “scarface_79″ Smith got in all in with his favorite hand.
Ken Lennaard raised before the flop and Smith, pictured left, made the call from the big blind. The flop fell 8

, Lennaard led out, Smith raised all in and Ken called. The hands were tabled:
Smith: 9

Lennaard: J

If Jordan dodged another diamond, the bracelet was his. The turn card was red but it was the 3
, and the 6
on the river ended it. Smith was very serious during photos, but we are sure he is ecstatic over his first WSOP gold bracelet and $586,212.
WSOP 2009 EVENT #39 $1.5K NLHE
Day 1 of Event #39 has come to a close and we believe that Mohsin “chicagocards1″ Charania is the end of the night chip leader with 144K. Charania went on a tear at the end of the night and was one of the first players to color up his black 100 chips for orange 5K chips.
Just to put it into perspective, each one of his four 5K chips was worth more than a starting stack.
In one hand a player raised to 3.2K from middle position, with the blinds at 500/1000/100, and action folded to Mohsin in the big blind. Charania examined the players stack and announced all-in, splashing the pot with enough chips for a call and pushing a stack of 20 yellow 1K chips in the middle. “You gotta pair?” his opponent asked. He thought for a bit and then called only to see that Mohsin held J

, dominating his T
T
. There was no ten on the board and Charania sent the player to the rail.
Dutch “havoj” Boyd plummeted and eventually lost his entire stack after being one of the day’s leaders. On his elimination hand, two players limped from middle position and Boyd squeezed in the small blind. The big blind woke up with a hand and shoved over the top. Both limpers folded and Dutch was in big trouble holding 64 against QQ. Boyd received no help and headed towards the rail.
Here are the end of the night chip counts:
Tristan “Cre8ive” Wade – 84.2K (pictured right)
Frank “round42” Rusnak — 77K
Adam “Roothlus” Levy — 72K
Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin — 63.4K
Jeff “yellowsub” Williams — 66.2K
Amanda “Mandy B” Baker — 55.8K
Kevin “ImALuckSac” MacPhee — 52.7K
Alex Jacob — 42K
Justin Bonomo — 34.4K
Hunter “The_Hunt_D” Frey — 33K
Tracey “XTraCey” Nguyen — 28.5K
Carter “ckingusc” King — 24K
Darryll “DFish” Fish — 21.6K
WSOP EVENT #40: $10K PLO
Shawn “sbuck21” Buchanan has been seated to the right of Tom “durrrr” Dwan all day in the $10K PLO. We walked by that table several times and Dwan he been in virtually every hand. Buchanan hasn’t been playing quite as many pots, but he managed to take a few chips off Dwan during the last level.
Dwan and another player checked the T

flop before Buchanan made a bet of 4.5K. Dwan was the only caller and the turn was the 9
. Dwan checked again and Buchanan bet 6.5K. Dwan called. The river was the 3
. Dwan checked for a third time and Buchanan bet again, this time putting 12K into the pot. Dwan didn’t take long before disgustingly throwing his hand into the muck.
Scott “BigRiskky” Clements took a big hit to his chip count across the room. After a flop of 6

another player led out for 5K and Clements re-raised to 20K total. The other player moved all in and Clements called. The hands:

Clements was ahead with his flopped full house, but the 6
on the turn gave his opponent quads and the pot. A meaningless 7
fell on the river. After the hand Clements had less than 15K left in front of him.
