Saul Eliminated, Chips Are Moving by Court on 04.18.09, 10:36 pm

The 4th level of the day has seen the action crank up.  With the blinds at 200 / 400 and a 50 chip ante the pace has ramped up and chips have started to move around the tables in larger chunks.  Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul (right) saw the last of his chips move to Ryhnie Campbell near the end of the level.

Christian “charder” Harder paid off a 17k river bet after long deliberation.  The board read QT55T and Harder was in the tank for a long time.  He finally tossed in the chips to make the call, seemingly expecting to lose the hand when he put the chips in.  The other player quickly exposed his AT and Harder shook his head in a “that’s what I expected” way as he mucked his cards.

In a battle of raises before the flop Isaac “Mr. Menlo” Baron (left) may have been hoping that Chino Rheem would pay him off.  A player opened for 1,100 and Isaac raised to 3,800.  Chino then put in a raise from the big blind, making it 8,800 to go.  The initial raiser folded and Baron put in an additional 12k on top of Chino’s bet.  Rheem took some time, asking what Baron had behind and pondering his decision.  The 70k or so behind Isaac’s stack was enough to convince Chino to cut his losses and toss his hand in, giving the pot to Baron.

In a set over set situation Joe Sebok was able to get up to 150k when his set of queens ousted John Gale’s set of tens.  Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson was able to pick up a smaller pot when he flopped top pair on a K64 flop in a 3 way pot.  When it checked to Marco he bet 4k and one player called.  The turn and river both went check check with the T and the Q filling the board.  Marco’s KJ was good enough to take the pot at showdown.

With 40k chips Tony “Bond18″ Dunst (right) is one of the relative short stacks in the room, though he still had 100 big blinds during the 200 / 400 level.  On a board of 754 Dunst was able to add a few chips to his stack with an all in move.  Jen Harman bet 1,600 and Paul Wasicka raised to 5,000.  Dunst them moved in for 35,700 and both players reluctantly folded their hands.

Kevin Saul was able to win a small pot off of Shaun Deeb when he rivered two pair with Q{Jc) on a KQ73J board.  Deeb paid off the 5,700 river bet but was later able to get his revenge with a big bluff against Saul.  On the 875 flop Deeb led out for 12,600 which was just under a pot sized bet.  Saul then makes it 32,000.  Deeb one ups him and bets enough to cover the 60k Saul has left behind.  Kevin thinks for a while but ultimately folds his hand only to have Deeb show him the JT.

It wasn’t long after that until Kevin was eliminated from the tournament.  Kevin flopped two pair on a J-T-9 flop but Rhynie Campbell had flopped a set of nines and after the chips went in the board ran out with a six and a deuce to seal the pot for Campbell.

Players have 90 minutes of play at the 300 / 600 blind level to finish off the day and will then be done until they come back for combined day 2 play on Monday.  Another flight of day 1 players will take to the tables tomorrow to play the same 5 levels that the day 1A players completed today.
