Roothlus Hits the Rail by Rich on 06.27.09, 7:58 pm

Adam “Roothlus” Levy flew out of the gate in event #51. He cruised into the first break with 10K, but has since stacked off and hit the rail. Levy, pictured left, took a hit and fell to 6K before getting it in with top-top.

The pot was raised pre-flop and Adam and an opponent saw a flop of JT6. Levy led out, his opponent raised all in. Adam immediately called the and hands were tabled:

Levy: AJ
Opponent: KQ

Levy was ahead with his pair of jacks, but needed to fade a handful of outs. The 3 on the turn added more outs and the K on the river sealed the deal. Adam graciously wished the other players good luck before leaving the table.

Joining Levy on the rail during Level 4 were David “The Maven” Chicotsky, Tracey “xtrACEyx” Nguyen, and Garrett “AceWPT” Roth. Roth got his remaining chips in preflop with pocket tens but was unable to outflip an opponent’s A-Q.

Michael “mossified84″ Skomac is still splashing around in the Miranda Room. Skomac was above 15K before he made a donation at his table. After a limp in front of him, Michael limped in for 200 from middle position. Two more players limped behind him before the small blind shoved all in for almost 3K. The action folded to Skomac who called. “I’ll gamble with ya,” he announced.

Michael was gambling with KT against KQ. The 887 flop brought chop possibilities, but the Q on the turn ended the hand. A meaningless 2 fell on the river and Skomac lost the pot.

Bryan Micon was standing at his table when we passed by. “Is there a game in the world slower than this one?” he asked anyone who would listen.

An English gent at his table simply smiled and answered, “How about Cricket?”

Micon laughed, but he wasn’t laughing earlier when his tournament life was on the line. Bryan was all with two-pair against a flush draw and faded his opponent’s outs, doubling his stack. Bryan was sure to credit Alex Jacob for the “pro sweat.” Jacob is seated a nearby table with close to 20K in chips.

The prize payouts have been announced for the $1.5K NLHE Event. With 2,781 runners the top 297 will receive a minimum of $2,733 while the champion will collect $664,426.

WSOP 2009 Event #49: $50K HORSE

The $50K HORSE Event reconvened at 4:00 p.m. in the Orange Section of the Amazon Room. We caught several players seated nearby in the $1.5K NLHE snapping pictures and even asking for autographs of Daniel Negreaneu and Erik Seidel. The pros seemed less than pleased with the table placement but obliged most of the requests.

Barry “barryg1″ Greenstein was one of the big movers early in the day, chipping up to 200K after starting Day 2 with 150K. Three players have been eliminated thus far after a total a four were sent to the rail yesterday.
