About halfway through day 2 play there have been plenty of bustouts, but Kevin “BeL0WaB0Ve” Saul (right) and Jamie “TheNew” Robbins were both able to stave off elimination with recent double ups. Joe Sebok just lost a coinflip to add his name to the growing list of eliminations including fellow PokerRoader Amit “Amak316″ Makhija who had been fighting with a short stack since dinner yesterday but ultimately saw his chip stack fall to zero today.
Saul was all in preflop on the last hand of the second level against Brian Horton. Kevin had the A
Q
and was able to hit an ace on the river to stay alive and double through Horton and his pocket nines. After the double up Saul was just over 63k while Horton was left on a short stack of around 5k chips. Sebok was also all in with AQ against a pair, but on the 8-8-3-3-J board he saw no improvement and his run at the LAPC came to an end.
In a table not many want to be at, Mike “SowersUNCC” Sowers, Jamie “Cronic420″ Rosen, Scott “SCTrojans” Freeman and Shannon Shorr sit one after the other with Sowers having the other three on his left. The first three were all involved in a raised pot preflop but Freeman ended up taking the pot without much contention after everyone checked on the J
8
6
flop and then checked to him again on the 2
turn. A bet of 8,625 from Freeman was enough to run Sowers and Rosen out of the 15k pot and send the chips to Scott in the 1 seat.
Jamie “TheNew” Robbins (left) was able to get a big double up when his aces held up against pocket queens. Jamie had opened for 1,700 and the player in the big blind made it 5,600. Robbins put in another raise, adding 6k on top of the 5,600 and he was called. Both players looked to have roughly 30k behind going to a flop of 9
8
7
. The player in the blind checked and when Robbins bet 12,500 he then moved all in. Robbins quickly called with his A
A
and found himself in great shape against the other players Q
Q
. The board filled out with the 7
and the T
giving Robbins the pot. Jamie has continued to add to his stack after the double up and now sits with just over 100k.
